this is where we ended up ,,,being it was such a nice weekend we decide to work today as well for a while so seems like we really made some progress for a change,,,,,, dont ferget folks i have shrunk the pic on here,, so it may look a bit out of proportion,,,

back wall of the cabin,,,, it is now from where the floor will be about 5 ft up tall

here is a pic of the corners after they have had the foam chink put in,,, on the lower logs it has been cut back to ready it for the final chink when the time comes,,,,, on the tp logs i am still waiting to trim it back til next week,,

here is how it is looking now,,,,, getting logs up n on the cabin n off the ground,,, starting to clean up debris n brush from the ground around and havin a nice lil fire to warm our hands and burn up scrub,,,

The cabin is really lookin awesome. Are you goin to continue to work on it through the winter? Where exactly are you guys at. It would be cool to come up and lend a hand and have a part in your project.

guitarslinger,,, we are up in the northern part of georgia, the non flat part;)
hopefully the cabin will be done by the time winter( if we can call it that) sets in....:) bein a damn yankee to me it aint really winter :p

well our trees didnt change much this year,,, tween the damage the cicadas did to the limbs n leaves then IVAN blowing alot of the leaves away....

it doesnt get too cold here actually, a few weeks of what most would call real cold weather, where the highs are 20s n 30s,,, but nothing too awful
well time to book off to NC gotta go work outta town a few days

you guys are awesome... i understand the frustrations of wanting something to progress faster than what it does however one thing i look at is 200 years ago what could be done then in a week only now takes an hour! so good luck and its looking great.... as a woodsman i would like to say that georgia soil is an excellent insulator and chink substance combine with some long blade grass and would only cost you the time it would take to go to the store for the not so natural stuff!

anyways best of luck to you guys and if you want an extra hand on a weekend let me know imma carpenter by trade (15years)

i always think bout way back when n they had to have their home finished because of the elements n such,,,, n to know that i had to get it done n done quick quite frankly skeers me;) n quite a bit now lol since we gotta git it done because of the elements n such now.... so we know that rain or shine we r gunna be out in it:)

Now let me see if I recognize the land from that picture. Are youse building up on that hill where we had the campfire and I cleared out the brush? It looks like the spot.
Youse are soem hardworking hillbillies if thats the case. That's quite a hill to drag logs up.

nope it aint up there on that ridge :p

it is the ridge right out back of the shack that looks out over the creek down by where you tilled n planted the grass fer us ,,,,, where the cow escaped from one afternoon in the pourin rain n we had to put some new posts in to keep him in down there since he had escaped up top when he decided we were all too far away from him,,,, only thing is,,,, cow baby is now 850- 900 pound of COW

I was wondering how much land you have? I bought 2 1/2 acres in a rmote area about 1/2 hour from my home. Real rough terrian, has an old motorhome with cabin like addition added to it. Kinda not the best but its good to camp in. I will likely have it taken away and build a small 16x32 cabin. I enjoy what you are doing, way to go! Plz more pic more pics, I hate to read but the movie is great :D

well sorry we been so long with out an update,,,, but a few weeks back the young buck here beat katey mae up and then she was in the hospital and we been dealing with the legal system bunches,,, anywho things on the cabin had to come to a screechin halt for a few weeks however, hopefully here in next couple weeks we will get back to workin on it... in the mean time i will post the latest pics we took before or lil hiatus ...

here is the beam that was cut from a tree that had fallen here on the property

the window opening you see in the wall is not the actual size of the window,,,, was just to give us a basic idea of where the window is going

this is a view of the sunsetting just today when i was up taking pics of the cabin,,, this was taken from just out the front door of it

here is the front of the cabin up to where we are now at..... where the beams n such are is where we will make the loft area ...

view from the backside of the cabin as of now....

looking down into the cabin and where the floor will be from where the loft will be....

there hope this keeps everyone satisfied for a lil bit ttil we can get back out into the woods and work on it more.... unfortunately with all that been going on and missing work the almighty dollar has to take precedent over the fun projects for a lil while til we can catchi things back up to where they need to be in order to stay in line with all our other goals for ourselves.... ah well such is life,,, but i must say we really do miss working on it,,, and have all agreed that as soon as we can we will be back at it
