Eh, they're okay. Liked em heavily for a bit, but that was a lonely, dreary, winter despair kind of like. I haven't heard everything but would have to agree that downhill seems to be the direction they're pointed in. Although, god, I love a man in eyeliner.
My sister doesn't like HIM. I have no idea why, either. She let me listen to them for a brief minute and they sound fine to me. I could probably like them a lot if I had money to go and buy one of their CD's. But yeah, my sister freaked out when I bought drumsticks that had their design and name. She just went off and talked about how much they sucked and blah, blah, blah. But different strokes for different folks, right?
Heavy Metal means different things to different people. Take Black Sabbath, they are metal gods but not extremely heavy. To some people Motley Crue count as heavy metal (me, I love them). I was a child of the 80s and so a lot of bands counted as metal that probably don't today. Apparently though if you sing about sex, drugs, rock and roll you aren't keeping it real whereas talking about how your dad abused you, your mum drank too much and how depressed you are is keeping it real. I prefer a nice powerchord over melancholy lyrics anyday. As for HIM I think they are ok, not their greatest fan because I don't really think the guy can sing but they can be classed as metal. If you ever watch the Kerrang channel in the uk they have started putting Busted on it.
I used to listen to them a lot but then I started to fade into more trancy types of music. I think the term "emo" music does not stand for HIM. emo music TO ME, is music with the only meaning being "I hate life, I hate this world, I hate everyone around me, lets kill ourselves for a meaning" when really they only thing they back themselves up with is their own fake ideas. This is just my meaning...
