Hip Forums Age Limit?

whilst i voted against age limits, the poll shows people support an age limit, depite no age limit having more than any other individual option. There should be a follow up poll with the top four options there for people to vote on.

 

I'd rather have kids learning about life on this site than a lot of others they could go to if booted.

Besides, censorship is oppressive

 

I agree, plus most would just change their age so they could get in.

 

Would like it to be 21 bt agree with bird that one can't moderate people lying about their age. Good point.

 

I would hate to see any change that would encourage the younger regulars on this forum to lie to Skip after he impliments the change.

 

57 People think there should be no limit?

First off, I don't want any children under 13 here, 13 as the limit because since a kid is allowed to watch a gore filled movie at 13, they should be able to go on here.

I also think that the cut-off age should be 60, cause I have several friends whose grandfathers aren't even 60, so we either have to have a seperate forum for those senior citizens or ban them cause with many of the categories on this forum I don't want that.

How can you be so sure? I've known some child geniuses. Frankly it's not that hard for a 11 or 12 year old kid to register here.

 

Bull honkey. I for one really appreciate the age-less aspect of these forums. I can have intelligent conversation with people who are years younger than me, or with people my parents' age. It is a wonderful way to be reminded that we are all people here, and we all have a valid opinion and point to make. As I've gotten older, this site has served to remind me of who I was and the things I went through as a teenager (when I was a much different person, in many ways, than I am today) and simultaneously kept me aware of the lives of people like my parents, as entities separate from myself. We are all people. Your grandparents have opinions, stories and ideas that are just as valid as yours.

 

Uh... I knew about that kind of thing at 10 and I registered for this site around 11, the first go around, tohugh ne3ver rezlly posted or fregquented...

And I'm still here..

 

I can't be sure, I just have a hunch.

And the 10-year-olds that would post here probably show maturity far beyond their age.

I hate this poll. Age doesn't really mean anything. I know quite a few people over 20 who don't seem mature enough to come on.

 

Anyone who is under 16 Please forgive me, but I chose raise it to 16 but simply for no other reason than that it is an arbitrary age at which I believe the majority of children reach a better understanding of how the world works.
Also there was no mention in an option that I think should have been there - which is to have a forum exclusively for those under 14 and to make that open to under 16's as well as allowing limited forums in the 16 and over category open to those aged 14 and 15. But I chose 16 because its the age at which people in the UK can legally opt out of school and the age at which in the UK they can consent to opt in to a more adult world in various forms from the films they watch to various pleasures and entertainment

Age does have a lot to do with it, that's why your parents no longer have responsibility of you after 18, and if you're some 11 year old kid having sex, that's just funny actually, like say some 11 year old registers here and learns about anal sex and tries to have it with his gf, at 11, that's just one example.

We could ID people by having them send pictures of themselves.

i don't think there's any intrinsicly rational age limit that has anything to do with age. just the defacto reality of the dominant cultures we live in and the laws that exist because certain factions have insisted on them and gotten their way to get those laws into being. i think those laws are themselves moraly wrong, but one fight at a time, so i go along with it being best to leave that struggle for another day.
