so, your opinion only matters to you and people who esteem you highly. same for the opinions of each and every one of us. so, yeah....
it's not a problem per se, just that your opinion doesn't matter any more than a lost bit of carrot someone got unstuck from between their teeth.
I'm aware of it, I stated that earlier. you need to get that stake of rebar out of your ass before you go on another one of those shouting fits. unless that's what gets you off, in which case, please, by all means. enjoy.
so your opinion on what is or isnt interesting is irrelevant to whether or not this site is being vastly misrepresented by claims of free speech. if the claims were not emphasized on nearly every page, thats no big deal, but the fact is the webmaster makes excessively lofty claims about how this is a haven for being able to discuss anything you want, a free speech forum, and not only disallows what would be considered illegal (child pornography, conspiracy to commit crimes, etc.) but also things that he just doesnt like. if you so much as directly mention a former member who left on bad terms, you can be banned. if you even ask WHY a long time poster was banned simply because you don't understand, you can be banned. if you voice a disagreement with ANY policy, you can possibly end up banned. if you criticize skip on any level, you can be banned. and so on. and this is just a starter, there are plenty of other unrelated limitations. your interest or lack of interest in the topics that cannot freely be discussed does not even begin to enter into the matter. the fact is free speech doesnt exist ANYWHERE. not in the us, not anywhere. yet despite claiming over and over again that this is a free speech site, the webmaster limits speech far more than legally required - not only banning illegal speech, but also things he simply doesnt like. even if these issues are discussed in a civil manner in private messages with him, and not posted up for people, members have been banned. i've read some of this correspondance.
So, Skip doesn't put up with whiny-assed bitching about how he does his job. So what? I probably wouldn't either, if I was the fucking webmaster. I've seen posts around here on every possible political view, religious view, and sexual perversion. That's pretty goddamn close to free speech, in the eyes of most people. I think it matters quite a bit. If the webmaster bans topics that most people find interesting, the site is going to die. If he bans topics that most people don't care about, HF will continue rolling along. If I don't like the way the site is being run, I'll go elsewhere. The webmaster doesn't owe me shit. He doesn't owe you shit either, unless you know him personally. Somebody new will come along to take our place.
If you paid and then got banned for no apparent reason, as has happened recently, then yes, he DOES owe you shit.
