Ok, so the new list is: Me Cre Environmental Junkie Mountaingirl94 Sarahstar-? merrijayne4-? Fleassy Gruvenmama Hipmoon May teeny_tiny_little_me lenamarina Closethippie I'm gonna PM sarahstar and merrijayne to make sure they want in. Ok Mamas, You all gotta decide now, how big do we want to make the squares? Is 6"x6" good for everyone? And we're doing 4 each, in a block, correct? I'm thinking we should do just whatever everyone wants, as opposed to a color sceme and theme kinda thing, that way we each get to put our personalities into it, right? As far as where it will live after, I like the idea of putting it up on Ebay (lots of mamas here have ebay stores, right? Would anyone be willing to put it in hers?) and then donating the money to a charity we all vote on. There was also the suggestion of it going toward a hipforums gathering though, which could be cool, but really hard to pull off, what do you all think? Oh, and is it cool with everyone sending like $2 with your block to me, so i can by backing and stuffing? Everyone is pretty busy with the holidays coming up now, so should we hold off untill after christmas on everything? I'm so super stoked on this, it's gonna be amazing!
I just wanted to give an idea to share the quiltwith Katrina victims. It's been a few months since the Hurricane, but so many are still homeless and winter is here. Here is a link: HTML: http://www.quilterscache.com/aid_for_hurricane_katrina_victims.html There is an address attached for quilt donations. And I was also wondering if it was too lateto join in for a quilt square? Peace.
There is a clickable link, hopefully: http://www.quilterscache.com/aid_for_hurricane_katrina_victims.html
you're not late at all closethippie, I'll add you to the list, and that's a great idea! If everyone keeps posting ideas we can start a poll thread and vote on it later on :0)
there is some information about the quilt distribution wearehouses that are still open for the hurricane victims, but apparently many of them are closing up, but there is an email to get more info. Just scroll down the page untill you getto the "quilters to the rescue is coming to the end" part. and here is the link : http://www.americanquilter.com/
forget ebay lets auction it here , to the highest bidder , i love the donation to the charity great idea
I wanna join too. Are you doing 4 separate 6" squares? Is it gonna be all cotton/blends or corduroy? I've made 5 corduroy patchwork quilts and put flannel on the back and tied it with yarn every 6". With the corduroy top and flannel back it's plenty warm and there's no special quilting needed. The bottom flannel is left 3" over the top to be sewn down as the edging. A plaid earthy color flannel can be bought for $1 a yard. I'd be happy to do the finishing for it if you'd rather go that route. And who wouldn't love a corduroy patchwork hippie quilt? My son just informed me my little granddaughter needs a corduroy quilt......in queensize please!! But I have 4 grandkids and one on the way so that's a bit much. Just let me know!! I agree with post xmas!!
