I love this thread...I have one I saw on an old Hippie Van amidst the rainbows, dolphins etc:
"Caution: Driver just doesn't give a shit any more"

And I made up this one- if I can find someone to make a bumper sticker for me:

"Orgasmic Goddess seeks God on a Harley for a good, long, hard ride"

    Love, Peace and Bliss

I remember Ken Kesey"s Magic Bus and several other painted VW's ,busses cars and wagons. All brightly colored with peace signs, flowers, ' flower power "make love not war, and verious other sayings.. it was all so bold and sur-realistic n a phyicdellic way.

you saw a VDub you knew you had a ride.It was a sad day when they started passing by.I remember being down by San Diego(People's food in Solano Beach) when a commercial size bus full of passengers stopped .I told the driver I was hitching and had no money. He told me I didn't need any.Everybody rode for free...

and he played real good for free.......Joni Mitchell

My 19 year old son got a VW bus/camper a couple of months ago. He told me, "They're real cool!" I showed him the above links (and more) to prove to him that, yes, I know they're cool.

You're either on the bus or off the bus. -- Ken Kesey

We call the VW buses Combi Vans here in Australia, and when I went to Nimbin (a small town that started its life as a hippy commune in the sixties) the road that leads in and out of there always had hitch-hikers looking for the next Combi to come along. I got in one once that had feathers all stuck in the ceiling, maybe about 50 of them...It looked like they just collected feathers from all over the place and stuck the quills in the roof upholstery...it looked brilliant.
I think it would be great to have an old bus to love back to life.
