At the same time, don't you think some hippies (just as some christians, goths, republicans etc.) are kind of over-extreme and full of shit...and also really need to get over themselves?

What happened to non-violence? If you don't like being oppressed, just stay the course and sit tight, don't retaliate. Don't argue with the haters, just love. It will piss them off even more.

The fact of the matter is that the reason why making fun of hippies is fun, is because a lot of hippies make it so easy.

I completely agree with you, but I'm not referring to the Western world, but to the world in general. Organic farming is simply not practical when it comes to feeding the world... but it would be a good idea to promote it in the West, especially if it would create jobs and preserve ecosystems.

The "green revolution" and the introduction of western medicine and industrialization is what caused this overpopulation mess in the first place, and now we want to promote these things even more, as a solution. Weird. Weird and weird. Imagine if India, Africa and China were industrialized within the next 50 years. Global environmental catastrophe, mass hunger and suffering for all of us. We're so clever.

If you are that opposed to what is going on here would you not find a more responsive forum elsewhere? This thread was meant as a joke more than anything, pretty much most of my comments here are jokes other than the lengthy ones about the organic stuff. It's Random Thoughts. I have no problem with this website, I love it, and I love the fact that I can express myself freely here. A whole lot of other websites would ban me, simply out of misunderstanding.

I did talk to some hippies about the situation in Israel in the last couple of days (in the Politics forum), and I was amazed by their ignorance, especially by that shown by older folk. It kinda prompted this thread, but yes... it's all a joke and slightly bait.

There ain't much wrong with helping others, but the Western world sure should solve its own problems before investing all of this money in others, yet at the same time, there are alot of political and economical reasons behind this. Next to none of this charity is done out of altruism.
