you live in a houseboat you're so poor it barely floats you live in a houseboat you're white trash you're fucking broke you live in a houseboat trailer park thinks you're a joke you live in a houseboat you're a dumb stupid fag you live in a houseboat your dog wears a bandana you live in a houseboat you have no teeth you live in a houseboat you have tattoos of an anchor you live in a houseboat your house has a leak you live in a houseboat
but it is done under the guise of altruism, and the masses support it because they are convinced it is good and will save their souls or some shit. i think there are ways to end poverty, but it will never happen due to the nature of the hierarchy we live in.
Srsly also...can these populations become "developed" without becoming a mass hive of suffering and pain that consumes everything in its path. I think we could save a lot of lives, in not trying to save a lot of lives. Lets start our own organic produce business Laura..if some people don't want to buy any then they can die of cancer and keep on raping the earth if they choose P.S....I get what you mean rubin, but I think organic farming can help out povo people too. There are some great projects happening in India.
I assumed that when I saw it first posted. Lively debate though- if pointless. I see parallels in your point of view expressed in the pop culture satire musically expressed by Frank Zappa who was an outspoken critic of the so-called "hippie culture" during its original heyday. He likened it to a fad cultivated by those who wished to make money off selling its trappings- whether they be clothing, literature, music, or drugs. I'd say the "posers" have nailed it down pretty well. I'd like to join in the debate on organics but am ill-informed to be a worthy debater so I guess I'll relegate myself back to the shadows here... carry on.
It could help out if it was more affordable and took less space. But right now, with the depleting food supply (not imminently depleting, but still...) the only thing that can "save" the world is massive ass cloning of fucking everything.
I'm a big Zappa fan. He always had a very good message. Hypocrisy exists everywhere in humanity, and it's very easy for people to preach. I at least try to lead my life in such a way that limits it. I do not try to pretend.
frankly, i think you hit the nail on the head with the tie-dye statement. as a rule of thumb, true hippies either do not own tie-dye, or own spectacular ornate tie-dye that is truly a work of art. in this case, i like hippies. but i fucking hate the tie-dye ignorant poseurs.
I own a pair of tie-dye underwear. They are really comfy. They were a gift though. From hippies, nonetheless.
I have a Tye Dye Grateful Dead T-shirt. I've been a hippie since I was 9. The only time I've felt like a poser was in high school when I gave in and dressed like everyone else (Skulls, black make up, etc). High school was cruel place.
will you spare my life? i'm good cook and a i suck a mean dick. i really think most hippies don't "get" acid, no matter how much they fry. that's prettymuch the tipoff that they don't "get" life. i think climbingarmsofivy prettymuch sealed the deal for me - people who call themselves hippies are st8 up ign'ant. people who really ARE hippies but call themselves something else, the way snoc does, are the real "cosmic badasses" as dean once put it.
