Molly, You wonder-filled mystical babe; again you have 'rocked my bones', teaching us to reach into "the tool chest of life" and to experiment with the kaleidoscope of patterns; tis a paradox. The germination of natural faith in the unique nature of the self, of which a child needs no convincing, has as a code. How fightening, how beautiful; such that we are stoked to be, to be ourselves. And even as Jimi channeled the before unseen he used tools, liquid theatre of the spirit has a vehicle. Love, 23 .
Thank you for making me aware of that there pattern, I need to feel this a bit more. Uh, yes; umm, the fingers move to these locations on the keyboard that I learned to imitate. .
my fingers slowly inch about the keyboard, not recalling what each key stands for. I rock back and forth with heavy red eyes, pretty soon the boredom will engulf me and i will lay unconcious upon this dusty black keyboard, unknown with who or what I might be mindlessly communicating with. how was that?
wow we got some poets haha, but seriously molly, like just dont imitate austin powers, thats all we are saying. i mean how do u look up to him? As a spy? as a guy who shags a lot of women and who has mojo, haha or just because he goes back in time to 1969 and says groovey baby, do i make u brandY? like do u seriously say that to people? how about would u like to shag now? or shag later? like why austin powers? it may be a funny and good movie but that doesnt mean u have to pick HIM to look to. hes not even real
personally, i think austin is excellent to imitate but just out of curiousity, who do you think i should imitate?
Let's put all the antics of "imitation" and such aside. In the end, we're discussing who would be a good role model from the hippie culture of the past. Personally, if you're going to look up to someone, it is better to look up to someone who is real (though that is not a necessity). You may want to consider a person who has a talent you wish to express -- Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix all come to mind, but there are far more talents than just music. Writers, such as Allan Ginsberg and Abbie Hoffman, or artists such as Peter Max are also important parts of the movement. Then again, there are the chefs and cooks that brought about organic foods and vegetarianism. There were doctors and scientists, who introduced the psyhadelic drugs of the era. Consider John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld and Michael Lang, the men who brought us Woodstock. Or Max Yasgur, who allowed 450,000 people to plant themselves on his property for four days and smiled and had a ball throughout the whole experience. It is also important to pick someone who has similar opinions and tastes as yourself. For example, if you feel strongly about the empowerment of black women, consider the story of Angela Davis. If you feel strongly about non-violent protests, consider the story of Mahatma Ghandi. If you feel strongly about the legalization of marijuana (sp?), consider the story of the Marijuana Party in Canada and their representatives. And there are modern people, even today, who embody the characteristics of the hippie culture, and people even before the 60s that blazed the trail for those to follow. It's all a matter of opinion and passion. It's not all about bright colorful clothing and music -- there are actual causes to be considered at the same time. This list is just limited to what I could think and find right now. There are thousands of others out there who are worthy of being considered a role model. I think you can do better than a character in a Mike Myers film. Bright Blessings! Aphrodite Pretty
Jimi is a good example of my point in my previous post. That is that ambitious desires for success was death to the spontaneous spirit of living authenticity that was at the core of our Hippie Motivations. Jimi and the other 'Stars' were very entertaining, but they couldn't share the real experience with us. Not when one is trapped in self-conscious ambitions. These 'Stars' were desperate to feel the spontaneous magic that we felt, but they were trapped in the fears that lead to the insecurity of the success drive; the drive to be 'little miss popularity'; the drive for sexual security.
