Instead of working yourself up over an issue among people who are not wanting for food or shelter, how about praying for the children whose lives are endangered by famine and war... oh wait, their parents Hindus, Muslims, and Islamists... they're going to hell anyway so you're free to be judgmental toward people whose lifestyles you don't approve of.

I think under the circumstances he did well to remain boring in the face of the bait we're putting out there. I cannot bring myself to tolerate such judgmental and divisive rhetoric. It's one of the ugliest aspects of religion- in whatever flavor it's offered. A topic like homosexuality will "out" the hateful and narrow minded and expose them for all to see.

 

Yeah. He isn't boring, he's just not fan. You'd expect a fanatic to argue some more.

But yes, you're right... such topics do out a lot of ignorant people. I was honestly suprised by the amount of ignorance in this thread.

On the other hand though, people tend to forget that fundementalism can go in both ways. I know many strict atheists who are so against religion that they blindly hate anyone who practices.

Religion can be beautiful, it's not for me... but I've met some TRUE Christians and they are amazing people, even though there are very very few of them. I had some really good talks with them... they are just people on a spiritual journey, like many of us. They just chose Christianity as their guiding path. Who is to say that a Buddhist, a Muslim, or even a complete atheist knows any better than them? These real Christians generate kindness and compasion. They know not to take the bible too literally, and are not influenced by the idiotic interpertations of the bible which cause ignorance and hate. These are amazing people... and they all preach the same basic and beautiful things: Peace and Love

I'd be cautious about encouraging folks to spew intolerance and hate. The thread is about our opinions though, so it's almost inevitable that some offense will be taken at what people think. I'm glad you're onto the sporting attitude that was intended with the sparring.
