    What happens to the babies?

(Of course, I think this "practice" is just awful.)

In western christian countries so many people are killed because of jealousy, because of money and also because of honour.
Would be interesting to see how many killings happen in every country.

There are more homicides per person in the USA than in countries of the near and middle east.

Honor Killing” Dad Secretly Taped Girls

    August 5, 2010

On New Year’s Day 2008, two Texas teenagers Amina and Sarah Said were shot dead, their bloodied bodies left in a taxi cab. The alleged shooter: their father Yaser Said.

In fact, Sarah appears to identify her Dad as the murderer in a 9-11 call.

If Yaser Said killed his daughters, what was his motive? His American wife Tissy claims he did so because their girls were dating boys that weren’t Muslim.

While friends and family call the murders honor killings, it’s a label the FBI and local police have been hesitant to use.

the reason I posted this thread was because when I first read the story posted in the o.p. I couldnt help but think that if I was them..raised in their traditions..I wonder if I would still think honour killing is wrong ...

its kind of like the food we eat...its totally normal and acceptable in some regions to eat certain things but totally taboo in others..just because of the way we're raised and the traditions our family and neighbors decided to follow.

I would think that those who have been murdered for the sake of the belief of another would think that honour killing is wrong.

While the argument that it is a cultural difference is valid and makes it very difficult for those outside of that culture to understand, the basic belief that any life should be taken by another over a difference does not change. Within that culture there are those who do not feel that honour killings are justified morally.

We are all conditioned by cultures that we grow up with and traditions that go with those but very few people would feel that killing a person is within the bounds of normal response to a clash of ideals.

I'm kind of glad those people who wear those cone shaped things on their penis live in the jungle...imagine how weird that would be if they went to the mall like that.

while this is completely true (people, as in individual persons, NOT ethnicities nor beliefs), i can't help suspecting there is an entirely different reason we're hearing about it.
