when i was there was back when i graduated highschool (graduation present: all expenses paid trip to canada, solo. 3 days in stratford, including two plays, two days just bumming around in toronto, most of which i spent in chinatown) i visited roachorama/hotbox cafe. as i understood it we were only allowed to smoke outside. i didnt know you could ever smoke inside...as i understood it the whole province has a smoking ban when inside a public building, but i could be wrong. i couldnt smoke inside in stratford, either though. this was in 2004

second full day in toronto (drove back home next morning) i went there and marc emery and a bunch of people were at hotbox in the back of the patio with tables pushed together having some important looking meeting while passing around a lot of joints.

i had to squeeze past him inside by the counter at one point.

it was strange how poor the service there was, though. i mean, i didnt want to just go there and smoke and not order something, so i got a smoothie the first day. i'm not kidding even a little bit, i checked the time....it took over an HOUR just to get a fucking smoothie.

i guess the staff is stoned off their ass, too, but fuck it...i can function well enough to make a smoothie when i'm high, and its not like its a big place. it was full, but there couldnt be SO much to do that it takes over an hour to make a smoothie.

but yeah, toronto kicks ass, and i'd move there in a heartbeat if it werent in the cold, white north. cold is my mortal enemy. even ohio is too cold for me :(:(

if i'm ever there anytime soon it would be cool to meet you and burn one or something, but i dont anticipate having the funds for that type of vacation anytime soon :\

It is a good good city actually. But theres no nature and the weather is too much for me now. Im still debating Vancouver. Im used to extremes in temps. freezing in the winter, sweating in the summer. Although I want to kick the freezing to the curb, I dont wanna lose my crazy humidity. Vancouver is pretty mild/damp. we shall see.
