Best idea yet. I for one am sick to the back teeth of all this mud slinging shit. I really used to enjoy this forum. Not so much anymore that I'm spending more times in other forums than this, my once favourite. What happened??
I guess only the mods can sort the vote-out thing out xD I think the source of all the arguments are the methods of dreading, and when someone asks what the best way, some jump in trying to give advice, and others jump in and give solid reasons wHY its the best method and wHY it should be done above all methods. To solve this, I think all noobies who start a new thread about methods should be directed back to the 'dreading methods' thread, its a sticky afterall, and it has all the good shizz in it, without all the complicated bickering I think that'll stop the methods argument right at the source Then the noobie can make up their own mind on which path to follow to great dready ness ^^ As someone said, it doesn't matter how you get there, just as long as you get there. This has been said so many times before but I think it can be said once more xD We are a community of dreads, we all love dreads, no matter how we got them or why we got them. We love dreads, canna hear an AMEN!!! *Goes into gospelness* IIII BELIIIEEVEEE!!
Forums like these always go into cycles of arguments and then calm. Always. It may not be easy for some to ignore them... but it *really* shouldn't be taken personally. Some people just like to hear themselves talk and some.... *gasp*... actually like to argue. Why feed into it? I agree with dragonvine, what's more annoying than the inevitable arguments is people asking the same questions over and over.. resulting in the same answers over and over (like, how many wax removal threads do we need or care to read?). I would never go into an informational forum without READING first. Duh. That repels me away from this forum more than anything else. Boredom. I'd rather read a debate (argument, if you will) about something new then the same crap questions that have already been answered 47+ times.
Yah Maybe we should have a "Newbie read before you make a thread!!" sticky and make it extra bold and extra colourful Mods? *Waves* Good idea yis? In this thread we could have either all the methods threads or something or just a note saying read before you post?
@ gaibee. This is an interesting point, I don't understand this at all. I "lurked" for months, if not years before I started actually posting things on these forums, I just don't get these posts that crop up pretty much daily where it's obvious that they haven't read anything at all. Or at least if they have then they don't seem to have taken it in. I don't really have a problem with them posting the questions, I just don't understand why they would. Maybe it's just cause they're still unsure? *shrug*
Well I guess the sticky titles could be made more eye-catching. Maybe some UPPER CASE LETTERS, for a start and anything else which might make them look more authoritative.
It's true. Many of the conversations that lead to the arguments would never even come about if a) n00bs read the stickies first b) we were all more firm about directing them to the stickies. Well it's a start A very simple one too. Go Team!
everyone just needs to chill out, disagreements happen, theres nothing anyone can do to stop it, its normal. best thing is to always try and see things from a different view other than your own, and think before you type
Just bumping this so Ozzy can see what we were saying about making the stickies more eye-catching etc
lol, thx for bumping, was half awake and missed this thread some how.. If you ever need me to look at something and you think I've missed it, just "report" the post. (found to the left of the post, under the Avatar.)...it'll send me an email so i cant miss it. thx again, peace.
I dont like to tattle-tale Im just gonna avoid threads where I can tell that is obvious from the title that there is a fight trying to get picked Innocent threads that I stumble on...now that could be tricky
