how can you tell the good stuff

If it is lighter green, sticky, and has nice hard buds. -Nothing that is pure leaf.

Dude are you serious, color? Good weed is nugget, shade of green doesn't matter. Obviously it needs to be green though. The amount of crystals it the biggest give away of good weed. Also, if the stems bend but don't break, the weed isn't ready for smoking. Smell is not a guage of potency, but good weed will always have a good smell. Also, whether or not you like indica or sativa.. you can learn to tell them apart, and also learn to recognize good hybrids.
