I've yet to get anymore tattoos, but the one I have is a butterfly on my right shoulder. My mom and I got the same one on the same place. It was a bonding thing. My next tat is a drawing I've been working on.

"Soulmates Never Die" is a line in a song by the band Placebo, whom I have always loved. But the phrase means so much more to me... Y'know when someone will say, even jokingly "Oh, if I have a soulmate, they must be dead!"? Well... I don't know, I never really believed that. Everyone has a soulmate, they will never die. Also, if you think about "die" as being metaphorical... A soulmate would never leave you forever. If they did... they aren't your soulmate. It wasn't meant to be. The phrase really does mean so much to me, I can't think of anything I'd rather have done, it's so beautiful and meaningful and inspirational. :)

    This one world vision
    Turns us in to compromise
    What good's religion
When it's each other we despise
    Damn the government
    Damn their killing
    Damn their lies

    Hush
    It's okay
    Dry your eyes
    Soulmate, dry your eyes
    'Cause soulmates never die

It took me a long time to decide on a tat to put on my body. I spent 20 years in the Navy and had been to many tattoo parlors (usually drunk) but was never satisfied with what I saw. Then tribal art came in vogue. At first I didn't like it then I began to see some interesting stuff. I liked the picture they drew with them sometimes. Like a panther or rose. I had an idea to incorporate that into an anchor design to commemorate my 20 years in the Navy.

I was on vacation a few years back in St Augustine, Florida. I went into a tattoo parlor there and began describing what my idea to the dude there. He sat down and in like 10 minutes had what I wanted. It's a tribal anchor with the years "1969" (year I joined) and "1990" (when I retired) on each end at the bottom of the anchor and "USN" as the cross bar near the top. My camera isn't working or I'd take a pic to post. Maybe later.

I want to get another tribal tattoo. This time, one with 3 roses intertwined. One for my wife, one for my daughter and one for my mother (who passed away the day before mother's day this year).

I have Zero from Nightmare Before Christmas on my wrist. He always cheers me up no matter how down I am, and I think that's mainly the reason I got him.

NBC is a family thing between me, my mom and my favourite aunt. I've loved it for as long as I can remember and everything about the movie just means something to me. But the fact that it can make me smile no matter what is everything.

I'm getting a tiny duplet ([IMG] these are duplets) on my left hand near my wrist. This is meaningful to me because I'm a musician and music is very important to me. This is going to be my first. I've drawn it on my hand many times and I just can't wait anymore so come January or February I'm gonna get it if I have the money. I'm excited!
I also intend to get a heart with my childhood dog's name in it on the inside of my left heel (perhaps with a R.I.P.), and a small cannabis leaf on the other. I'd also like a heart on my right hip, purple perhaps, with an eigth note spearing it like an arrow. I'd like to take the credit for thinking up the last one, but I just found a pic of it online and dug it.

I want more too, just haven't decided what the other's will be yet. Maybe a butterfly somewhere. I want lots of small tattoos.

I like all of your ideas except for the cannabis leaf. I would suggest you leave that off. It might be something you would regret later on. Maybe something like a peace sign instead (JMHO).

the first tattoo that i actually designed myself is actualy the most ghetto looking and poorly done tattoo of all. it is the initials of my homie that passed away, and it looks like a little kid just drew it on there =/

I won't regret it. I understand it could be problematic, which is why I want it where I want it. I can easily cover it with a sock or shoe. I used to wear sandal-type shoes alot, but for awhile now I've been wearing socks and pump-like loafers. I think it'd be fairly easy to hide.

My first tattoo is a shamrock in the back of my neck. I got it because the garden of my childhood home was full of shamrocks and they just remind me of being a carefree, happy kid. My second tattoo is the Amnesty International's human rights symbol (a candle with barb wire around it) on my left calf. And my third tattoo is a character from the children's books called the Moomins. He's called Snufkin, and he's this free spirited traveller who always does his own thing even if it's a bit crazy. He has lots of close friends but he's also a bit of a loner and he needs to have his alone time. I grew up reading those books and he was always my favourite, he also reminds me of myself a bit. And that's why he's now sitting on my ankle, playing his harmonica and looking content. :)

I have wings that cover my entire back......... a tribute to my late mother who believed in angels. 'Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we once had shoulders as smooth as raven's claws'. I have an infinity on my left wrist. I got it on the first anniversary of my husband's death it symbolizes that pain is temporary and that death and ink are forever. Two small stars are included to signify my children. I have script on my left forearm 'My life is my message' a quote from Gandhi. I saw it on the wall of his ashram the first time I visited India. I have started a full sleeve on my left arm. Stars. They travel up my arm and over my left breast. They will eventually meet the stars and Om I have on my belly. The Om is made of tiny stars. I got that tattoo on my second trip to India, while visiting Goa. I have script on my right thigh 'In the end what matters most is not how well you lived and not how well you loved but how well you learned to let go'. And on my right calf I have more stars and a small maple leaf. The stars represent a quote 'Perhaps they are not stars, but holes in the heaven where the light of our lost ones shines down to let us know they were happy'.

I have three tattoos: Two of music notes on my hips because i love music and they make me feel better about my belly and the word 'aquarius' written from shoulder to shoulder on my back because i really like the ideals that go along with the sign - sort of a reminder.

My tattoo is a design of a rose. It represents my Middle name "delarosa" which means "of the rose" in spanish. i asked my tattoo artist to make a design for me, he said sure!

this is the kind of tattoo artist, who just looks at you, and knows exactly what you might like.
he said, come back in an hour or so, and your design will be ready..

so i did, and i was like. wow, thats pretty, i got him to tweak it a little bit, so that it;d be perfect for me, and when it was all done..

    i was like :D sweet!!!

so the design, represents my sophisticated/sexy look ;) lol.

i was thinking of getting this tattooed on the back of my neck. it's a sign that vikings used to wear on their foreheads to tell their enemies they were invincible/indestructable, but i want it on the back of my neck (or possibly wrist) because it's me that needs convincing. just a reminder to myself that no one can stop me.. :)

I have the chemical structure of acid ( C20H25N3O ) with a diagram of the molecule below it and "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide" below that. It starts right below my arm pit and ends at the top of my hip on my right side. I got this one because acid has shown me several ways to improve my mental/emotional/physical self. I owe a lot to that string of numbers and letters.

In the middle of my back I have the Mandalorian Insignia from the Star Wars universe :)
Starts just below my neck goes a little bit below half-way down my back. Got it because I'm a huge fan, but I let Mr George Lucas think it up for me lol.

I also have Wish Bear (from Care Bears) right below my V-muscle thingy. Not sure how I got it in my head but I got it just so I could look at it 20 years later and say "Why the holy fuck did I do that?" :)

My first and only tattoo is on my upper back, just below the seventh vertibrae of my neck. I designed and drew it myself. It's a winged fox flying in front of a cresent moon.

To me, it represents shooting stars... People often ask why... And it's because to me, foxes represent living fire... And what are shooting stars but winged fire? It's important to me because I view myself as a shooting star... Mostly because I've been told I don't have long to live. So I view it like this, "Shooting stars may only glimmer in brilliance for a moment, but the mark they leave on the soul lasts a life time."
