Dirty Wars is a very well-done documentary and should be watched by everyone who wants to know how the US government really conducts themselves around the world. I urge you all to read the book as well, it goes into much more detail.

 

Ignorant I was. I had always thought that female "circumcision" was removing the hood from around the clitoris to possibly enhance sexual pleasure for females. Oh--have I been wrong. REMOVING the clit and the inner lips!!!!! That's plain and simple horrendous mutilation of totally subjugated young females and is indicative of an extremely dominate male culture. How in the world can this ever be eliminated?? Barbaric, indeed.

 

There are 4 types of female circumcision and they're all horrific.

The first mention in history of genital mulitation was performed by the ancient Greeks and its practice has been well documented in Australian aboriginal tribes and many different African societies. Many centuries later, 19th century gynaecologists in England and the United States would perform clitoridectomies to treat various psychological symptom as well as masturbation and nymphomania.​

This nonsense is a primative practice done by men that want to control their women and it's right up there as an atrocity with the time when they buried female children alive. Rest assured that there's nothing in the Qur'an that says a woman needs to be circumsized. In fact there's alot against the abuse and mistreatment of women. And in Islam the moment someone does something that contravines the Qur'an they're no longer considered to be a Muslim. But sadly since there's no official power structure or hierarchy within the faith the practice of total shunning only appears to work within small communities.

Unfortunately until everyone in the world has access to education and decent social programs, there will always be primative angry men using every excuse imaginable (including Islam) to control the sexuality of women.
