how do you bust up a bud?

I like the OPs emphasis on not killing the trichromes.

i prefer to break up the bud with my hands, it's more of a sensual experience

the smell just starts going everywhere as i'm breaking it up, and all the kief that gets everywhere.

sometimes seeing that, i'll switch to grinders. i'd prefer grinders in terms of the trichromes but breaking up by hand is very enjoyable.

 

Moreso bruising/spilling than killing.

 

I break up the bud with my hands. I usually just take a piece off the main stem, starting at either end and working my way down. I always try to break it up over the container (i have a glass jar) or over the bowl so if anything falls at least it's not wasted.

If the stems within the bud is small enough I just break it up a bit and leave it in the bowl. Efficiency is key with me.

 

i get my personal assistant to do it using his special hulk gloves to break it up nice and well, this thread is dumb-fuckt, u either frop the weed in a crusher, or break up in ur fingers if u havent got one, there isnt anything time worthy to debate about on this ;S

I'm with Digital on this one, I'm a scissor-person all the way. I'm picky about how it's busted if I'm the one rolling a joint. If it's semi-wet, it ends up chunky and stringy. If it's super-dry, it ends up like powder. At least with scissors, you can watch what the hell you're doing.
Luckily, when they're at my house, my friends NEVER waste stem. They don't go in the joint or the ash tray, it's a strict rule, stems are doggie snacks. He gets mad if he watches someone throw stems in the ash tray.

 

I use an electric grinder, all the crystals that fly off the bud build up pritty fast for me so whenever Im packin a bowl if I feel like It Ill take some powder out to top off the bowl

 

man my crushers coated in thc, but i have no clue how to get it off, its stuck on the teeth and shit, looks potent but almost impossible to take off

good call Mr. Green, i find theres alot of trichromes on my grinder too but i have absolutely no idea how to get them off....
anyone have any suggestions?

and for the record i think that grinders are definatly the best if your just hittin a bowl or two but if you're going for a luxurious experience and rolling a spliff or a blunt then i usually break it up with my hands and then use scissors.

dude.. its weed.. who gives a shit how its broke up, as long as it gets done, thats all I care about. Just rip into it and toke it up.

 

starbucks ones are nice because of how the actuall like "bowl" or w/e the grinding bit sits in is all stainless, so its easy to scrape

the one i have at least...dunno if they changed the design

 

i hate breaking up bud but it has to be done. i cannot stand taking a huge rip then taste and smell BEANER! its so nasty. if im rolling a doobie i break it up more so no stems can pop through. if its just a bowl im packing i just make sure theres no seeds. seeds can ruin the entire smoking session they are so gross to smoke.
