Why would people lie on an anonymous survey ?

I saw a study once that suggested depending on the survey, people could be more likely to lie on an anonymous one.

I don't know why; but that would be my assumption as well.

I guess you could ask the people who lie on surveys, but how do you know to trust their response? =P

 

I'm more likely to tell the truth-I'd never tell my wife about all the women I've been with...only some...

 

i dunno, ten really isn't that many if you just hook up with people

i mean, i'm over that and i'm admittedly more into relationships than one night stands. my response is a combination of both answers

which is four long relationships, plus let's say about ten hook ups

and those ten hook ups have happened since i became sexually active, at about 14 / 15 - so that's ten over ten years. thus, once a year doesn't sound inconceivable.

i've had many single periods. i don't see a response of 10+ from people who are much older than me that exaggerated. if it had been 50+ and we had a majority consensus, then i'd call shit.

Well I can't quite compete with the number but I lost my virginity at the last age of 18 and am 59 now, so 100+ between guys and gals in forty odd years is not so much is it?

And I can say on more than three continents.

The poll is certainly skewed towards low numbers as some other poster has said.
