how many of you fools actually went shopping today?

shopping, other then for the means of creativity and or
the means of survival implies several things:
first that you have the where with to do so,
that you have some several to do so for,
and that, tacitly implied, you endorse the capitol feeding
frenzy in the guise of pseudoreligeon that has come to
be associated in 'western' culture with the festivities
surrounding midwinter's eve.

now gift giving is a fine thing
without it there, and this ought to be rather obvious,
there would be no gift receiving.

whole economies can be and have been, built upon giving
away everything you have
in which generosity is seen as wealth and possession not
given or received as gifts as a form of poverty

this is the economic mode known to anthropologists as
potlatching.

the object of it though is to avoid rather then persue
the burdens of gratuitous accumulation

somehow this has been turned completely arround and stood
on its head by those who immagine gratification is to be
found in accumulating itself rather then in the opportunity
for creative generousity the use of tools and materials
potentialy represents

I didn't shop but I worked and it was bad until about 3 and then after that it was safe for people to shop.

hehe themnax... i learned all about potlatching in anthropology class.

 

i went shoping on black friday. i stayed up all night and left at 5:30
i went to the mall...and a bunch of other stores... it was awesome

 

haha, I did for a while. Halo 2 for um... myself, the agnostic. And some body lotions for my sisters (haha, god I love bodyworks store, so simple, so easy).

I have friends who're like "man, Christmas is bullshit. It's not even a 'holy day' anymore. The whole present thing was just created to amass heaps of money for our economy,... pshhh people are stupid; they're a bunch of capitalist tools. Fuck Christmas!" and yet,... they always seem to ask me if/what I've purchased them. Funny how that works out.

Even still, how is a bunch of people stimulating the economy, and also having a good time while doing so a problem, exactly? lol Maybe I missed something along the way.
