But it is not without merit to look at sexual behavior of various populations and cultures and compare them and hypothesize why that behavior exists and persists.

That being said, sexual promiscuity (both males and females) is the reason why sexual transmitted infections and diseases haven't been eradicated from the human species.

In fact it is the same "YOLO, live hard and live fast" that promotes risky sexual behavior, and while many are practicing good sexual hygiene, there are many who aren't or who have a slip up, and bam they are pregnant and/or have a sexual disease/infection.

I think in vague generalities, a slut is someone who approaches sex, as a glutton would with food, even at the detriment of their own health.

Slut to me is the casual colloquial term of what would be called a "sex addict".

So the types of behavior and mental mindset of this person would be someone who has such an uncontrollable hunger for sex, that they'll engage in intimate sexual acts in a reckless way without care to how they will be perceived by others, including who they're disrespecting or putting in danger like their romantic partner, friends, siblings, parents, and children.

Questions like "does this person have the maturity and financial resources and emotional investment to care for a child if they conceived one?" Matter as that is a consequence of such behavior, and could they go through an adoption or abortion procedure if they had too.

If the answer is no, then this is an example of slutty behavior because one put sexual urges before thinking about consequences.

The next question is how often is one putting themselves in those types of situations of passion over logic. And examining those reasons why, was it due to bad parenting about sexual issues, rebellion, trauma, lack of self-esteem, a brain or hormonal disorder?

I know for a fact that if certain areas in the brain are removed or damaged, that individual will lose complete ability to prevent themselves from acting on feelings of lust.


I firmly believe you can't shame someone to stop a behavior, I think it's pointless, so I don't support slut-shaming.

To be a whore, I think one uses sex as a leverage tool to manipulate someone or a situation to favor the outcome they want, either directly or indirectly.


Let me also make one thing clear though:

Being raped does not make you a slut, neither do the specifics of how it happened or how it felt physically, and if one has sex under the guise of deceit that does not count. However if you are tricking someone or blackmailing them for sex I think that person is a slut.

Edit: I would also consider a woman who uses abortion as a form of birth control, and has a history of doing so without a valid medical reason as a slut.

 

If a lady has fucked enough consenting adults to repopulate the entire state of Indiana, then she might be approaching colloquial "slut" status. Until then, I'd say she just has a healthy interest in sex!

monkjr, I think your second sentence pretty much nails the sexual version of an addict, given that the general definition of addiction is:

addiction: Continued repetition of a behavior despite adverse consequences.

However, in colloquial terms, someone could be considered a slut if they engaged in sex at a disproportionately high frequency and/or with a disproportionately high number of partners, but not be a sex addict if they avoided acts that were detrimental to either themselves or others. One also has to be very careful about what constitutes "detrimental". A woman who lives with, and has sex with, her boy friend, but is monogamous with him could still be engaging in what some might consider "detrimental behavior" if, for example, she had very strict and puritanical parents.

 

How likely is this scenario? Is someone having sex 12x a day with 3 people at the same time occurring on a daily basis, so much so the person cannot be employed elsewhere? Think this is common or even possible? I would have to think you would not be able to do many things let alone hold down a regular job, that would be your job at this point. Anyways why would a lot of partners make a girl a slut if she's still single? If you're single and like the feeling whose to say to set your limits for you? Maybe she'll look back at her sex life knowing that she had a good time with a great lot. With that being said, l absolutely believe that you need to be safe and protect yourself from std's and unplanned pregnancies at all times. If she knows that she has a high sex drive with multiple people, there's no reason why she shouldn't be prepared in today's world. None.

I ended an abusive 3 year relationship, became emotionally unstable and slept with 14 men in 6 months. I needed love and comfort but couldn't commit to a new relationship, I also was inexperienced with men and didn't know they would use me. I also had 0 family or friends for support. I feel ashamed of my past but more happy I got through this dark stage in my past and am now in a long term relationship with a man I love. Sex to me shouldn't have shame attached to it, it's the result of emotion as natural and inevitable as rain some people just have a wetter climate. Can we all stop making ourselves and each other feel regret, resentment, shame, frustration, fear, confusion and hatred its all just a detrimental cycle. Just practise safe sex, try to figure out what makes you happy and be kind to other people.
