It's interesting when you see someone say something and later something totally different, makes you realize lots you read is bullshit. Kinda shitty tho when you think you are liking someone and they start to hand out bullshit like a plate of cookies.

You seem to be suggesting that you never embellish a story

My daddy told me never to lie, there is too much to remember then and the mind knows what it really saw happen so it can't tell the same stories twice the same way if they are lies.

To Ginalee,,, no one in particular, just a lot of BS from a few and I being the confrontational type over lies would love to call people up when it's obvious BS but ya, why?
Nothing really new just today I thought I would ask what people think about Bullshitters. Do you want to call them on it? Do you laugh? Does it make you care less for them and try to not read their stuff?

The ones with one or two post I tend not to believe right away anyway, usually a thread started for shock value anyway, to be a mind fuck and run.

no need to worry about it here. me I just keep feeding them rope till they find a good tree to hang from. if ya'll come on over to the Church of the Good Earth thread we've mostly known each other since the '60s/70s along with some good folk we've met here and you'll find that keeps the bs down.....some anyway :2thumbsup:

I don't know .. seems to me that most people who disagree with so-called conspiracy theory topics will call bullshit on *anything* and at that point, they look like the "bullshit" .. in my eyes. I just wouldn't use that word for it.

Sex topics .. BS is to be expected, I think.

I think sometimes it's probably good to call somebody on it. If it's handled in a [IMG] way and not flaming / trolling / all out cyber war.

One of my pet peeves is when people create new user accounts and then "mock" and hold up a mirror. I pay attention to them but I discredit and dismiss them. Ignore them. Mostly .. but not always. It's sometimes easy to hook this *fishie* (fishermen gonna fish)

Agreed. For whatever reason, when I was 12 or 13 I went through a stage where I would just fabricate complete stories for no reason. I think it was maybe because of people I was hanging out with but....whatever. It was a stage and I realized the more stories I told, the more I had to remember what I said and to who. I grew out of it after a couple of years and eventually I realized that it's a lot easier to just remember the truth.

In addition to that...I don't get lying to the internet. I could tell you guys I am a lawyer, I drive a $120k car and live in a huge house. Then what? I'm never going to meet most of you. What's the point of making that shit up? At least when I was 12 it was kind of exciting because I was face to face and operating without a net. The story had to be convincing in real time on the first try. On the net, we have all day to edit, preview, go back and see what we said before if we want to, etc.

In that case.. books, music and movies are 90% bullshit. That couldn't possibly be so.

Since I'm anonymous here, all my stories are true. Who would I be trying to impress anyway?

if we were all truly annonimouse, why would it matter to either of us? we're not really though. at least not that much. to each other we might be, though there are ways people can figure out who anyone on line is likely to be, if they're reall that motivated to find out. not that it would be really worth the trouble to most of us. big brother seems to think it has to know everything though.

That's how i feel. What's the point of lying to strangers and who the hell is here to impress.

People can believe me or not. Doesn't change the truth. Sometimes life is crazy and messed up things happen around us or to us. Perhaps people won't believe the conspiracy nut/license plate story I told in a thread yesterday, for example. Based on what is my obvious bias in the present (it was not always so), I can understand the skepticism. That's more thier problem. I know what happened.

I got a few others that sound pretty tall. One where my friend had her appendix go on her, while they were tripping balls and riding a subway downtown. She was so lucky that it happened exactly where it did because Sick Kids was right freakn' outside. Almost make a guy believe in miracles.

Now that I think on it, there was one time I've cared if someone believed me or not. I let out some really personally sensitive events that I'm not normally inclined to share on an internet forum. Moment of weakness that I don't plan on happening again. :biker:

Ya, I can't believe that either but some books could be like those trying to sell us a new and improved life for 29 bucks.

That's another question that plagues me, what the fuck is New and Improved?

Its either new or it's improved. Can't be both. Doh! That would be a whole different thread,,,

I'd say it's more common for members to choose not to share some of their most controversial true stories because they don't want to be judged and criticized. Even on an anonymous forum, getting blasted by prudes is not fun.

I have some old friends who did pretty much the same wild things in college that I did. They say they never have posted any of the stories online anywhere. I'm the only one in the old group that is saying anything publicly. I'd guess this is typical.
