Here's a thread from the archives!

Anyone else prefer their jeans and cutoffs after they've been worn a few times since last wash?

That's when they get to feeling great, material stretched out and silky smooth.

its not a number, its weather all the stains and wrinkles will come out with cold water.

also can't stand denem, but actually like the feel of doubleknit synthetics.
(well i never said i was human)

I'm a big fan of denim, most of the time. It feels cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather than synthetic counterparts. It's much harder to stain and to damage with abrasion and catching on sharp edges. It's very soft and comfy after enough use. Orbital sanders help new clean denim reach that stage. Old used jeans from a thrift shop may help expedite the journey to comfiness. Sometimes the seams need to be picked loose like that big clump at the bottom of the crotch and at the bottom of the zipper. When I make cutoffs, I remove the entire zipper and all that extra fabric. They're really good at absorbing secretions without looking stained. Main drawback in cooler environments is they're slow to dry after getting fully soaked. Also they're relatively heavy and bulky for traveling. But they don't need washing nearly as often as the lighter counterparts. So there's that. And while nice soft thin denim does show what you're packing, the thinner counterparts do a better job of that.

Do all the stains ever come out though? Paint is pretty challenging. As is caulk. And expanding foam sealant/insulation -- good luck there. I don't mind sporting these battle scars. Grease I can get out. Regular dirt (clean soil) brushes/shakes out, sometimes an air nozzle expedites that. Similarly with sawdust. Mud, just let dry and it scrapes/brushes/blows right out.

Wrinkles? With denim that's when it's best. The ripples out from the crotch reaching around the torso and upper legs indicate that it's well stretched and flexible providing excellent comfort, range of motion, and agility. I don't know if that's considered unattractive or not but when I see it on other people I think it looks good. Heck they even started selling new jeans with fake wrinkle marks so I'm guessing there are fans of the look.

Jeans 3 times before I dump them to get washed. Everything I change out everyday.
