yeah, overbreeding of popular breeds fucks them all up. We got a lab from a guy who works for my husband. We were able to track their pedigrees, see their upbringing and get to know them before our final pick. Both parents had wonderful health records. It's nice when you know the breeder and how they interact with their dogs. But purebred are still a risk. Mutts are awesome healthy.
Yeah ours had it shots and everything but purebred are just a ton of health problems. It still managed to get sick and die on us. and it was only 7 years old.
the reason it costs money to adopt is the animal is usually altered for you, has all of its shots, is a way of proving you can actually afford the dog, and for upkeep fo the shelter. it's worth the money!
