Yeah.. maybe it's different where you're from but I've never known a single person in the U.S. who just doesn't tip. :shrugs:
I remember in Europe, or at least in Spain, tipping wasn't expected but unless I was broke I always left a Euro or two. it felt odd not to. the servers liked me.
why is it different? because the norm is that waiters are tipped. they are in fact usually paid BELOW minimum wage because they are assumed to get tips. someone mentioend that when they worked as a server, they only got like 2.50/hr when min wage was 6 something. you really think 3/hr or less is a living wage? 18 and never worked, well, its gonna suck when you do finally have to get a job, but i will so laugh at you if you end up working in food or service
The best argument for or against tipping occurred in Reservoir Dogs when Mr. Pink refused to tip. I found the clip on youtube but it’s not of particularly good sound or quality Hotwater
well in France, you do not tip. But, it is usually factored into the bill. Like, taxes are already factored into the price of the object in France and Germany. So you pick up something for $4 and...gasp..it is $4...not 4.40. That is one thing I hate about the US. Cool, it is 3.75..but no, the tax..etc. WHY NOT JUST FACTOR IT INTO THE PRICE, damn, heh.
I never tip. I consider a tip already included in the price. On a brighter note; if you work as a waiter or another equally hopeless job: haha. I pity your worthless existance.
yeah, for some reason in the USA the tip is not factored into the cost, and the wait staff are paid half of minimum wage. i think the whole point is to make sure they work harder for the tip, and most of them do.
I tip 10-30% based on the service and if they give me free stiff I tip lots more. I got a free dinner because the waiter messed up. So he gave us free drinks and free dinner, I gave him $100. so It think in the end it was all fare.
