    My life is worth so much that there are people who are trained and paid to assist me, at peril, to themselves.

    The actual bonus is that they provide that service to everyone.

    My life ain't worth shit. But here I am. Until I'm not. Some say I'll be born again. If I am, my life won't be worth shit then either.

    The world is not valuable for what it has to offer. You experience value to the degree that you invest yourself.

    The only people I matter to are few enough. I have no career. I'm a job snob who can't find good work and I live by myself. Single. Taking classes bit don't have much going for me. Like the rest of you I won the race of life as a sperm cell. There was a 10 billion to 1 chance you could have lost that race. So make the most of it. I sure hope to make the most of it bit i'm unsure what to do all the time and I realize now I have a severe phobia of lifestyle changes.

    Yeah, screw the nurses who help save lives, or the fireman who save your home from burning to the ground, or the people who catch the evil killers. Who needs them!

    I think I remember someone doing some study about the worth of a human body and came up with 2.75$ or something like that. But I do agree, these people signed on to a job just like any other, the job just happens to be dangerous, they knew that to start. Those jobs are not much more dangerous than say iron working, fishing, ect. People get injured or die everyday doing all kinds of jobs, are they heros too?

    Are you kidding :confused:

    Football is the most popular sport in america and keeps tens of millions entertained every sunday afternoon throughout the fall and winter season - and I'm not even including college football which invokes just as much passion and interest [IMG]

    Yes, I am serious. They might give people some fun and keep them entertained, but their 'job' is not as necessary as people who can save lives.

    Sorry but I agree with the OP;

    I was in the military and after basic and technical training it was just like any other job.

    I worked 3 days on and 3 days off or if we were shorthanded four days on and 2 days off and received a paycheck every two weeks.

    While I was never deployed overseas; I was part of the machinery which makes war possible. I don’t consider myself a hero just another functionary in the logistics of war.
