Proving what a text says by restating it or paraphrasing it in your own words is not the same thing. If I say the book says "See Spot Run." and you say it says "See Jane Run." they ONLY way to settle the argument is by referencing the actual book, correct? But the writing is on the wall, so I'm done with this one.
What? You're not going to take out an ad for Christ-Insanity? Then don't SPAM the book all over this forum. Not going to say it again. If you Christains want to ADVERTISE a book here, take out an ad like everyone else. See you Christians with your bible thumping seem to be totally oblivious as to how OBNOXIOUS you are to others. Who did Jesus have to quote? Nobody (well except all the Buddhist teachings he stole as his own). But he PARAPHRASED them into different words for a different audience and culture. That is ALL he ever did. If Xtians only quoted the very words of Jesus and nothing/no one else, they'd be fine, but no. That's not what they do...
Skip, if you care to check all of my posts here, I am very keen to NOT directly quote from the Bible, and as I said, have declined from doing such even when directly asked to, even by mods. so you are mistaken that I am spamming the Bible all over the site. sorry, I didn't realize such a simple answer to you and posing a simple question would get you so upset.
The topic is how to be a good christian and I am representing along those lines. As a matter of fact I am the only one here who has responded substantially to the question. Your only advice thus far on the subject has been it isn't in upsetting you. This exchange you are having with NoxiousGas would by definition be off topic. Excuse me once again. I'm yo huckleberry.
As I said before the way of becoming anything is through graciousness, that is through generosity in the the things you accept and the things you allow.
People 'has stained this planet' with the blood of millions of innocents, not their religion. Just as countless of innocents have been killed and indoctrinated by organisations that had a-religious ideologies. And to answer your question: probably never, but who knows? Those are not the only reasons why religions and governments exist.
jesus taught about the way to apprehend the world with clarity. For one we know them by their fruit that is by trying them out and see how they go down.
I would like to address something that I can't leave stand as fact going forward lest someone get the wrong impression. That is the statement that all jesus did was repeat what he heard using the words attributed to buddha as example. Who did the buddha plagiarize?
Jesus 'stole' Buddha's teachings That's funny to see as a serious argument. Maybe they are so universal that different teachers could figure them out apart from eachother?
The way I regard similarities on these things is there is a universal curriculum that appears in many forms.
