If you believe pirates are actually holding boats for ransom to help "reduce pollution and make the world a greener place" you have got to be out of your fuckin mind. I have no problem with legitimate rebellion against tyranny. But I don't think most of these pirates are genuinely morally driven. Most of them are probably just exploiting an easy to hit target area. Quite frankly if someone was pointing an ak47 at me I would hope a tactical unit wouldn't mind putting a bullet in their heads.
Pirates suck. I know. I've had personal dealings with them (albeit long ago in another part of the world), and, given the chance, I will gladly put a bullet in the back of the head of everyone of them.
arm the crews---give em 50cal machine guns----against the pirates aks----pay the crews more for "hazard pay"----that said if your poor as fuck and hungry and some billion dollar cargo passes thru undefended---fuck it--if you can take it youd be an idiot not to--moralitys out the door if your hungry----even if most of the money goes to the chief your fed for awhile---
After the kidnapping by Somali pirates of a Spanish fishing boat recently the government is considering using private security companies to protect the fleet. That's all good and well but who is going to end up paying for this? The taxpayer no doubt.
Is it? Explain why. Because the TV told you the pirates are all mean rich people and our troops are all poor, virtous patriots? Give me a fucking break.
Arm the crews. The officers on the Titanic had revolvers stowed away in case of an emergency on a freakin passenger ship on the north Atlantic, these are merchant ships traveling through incredibly dangerous waters.
With the sophistication level of the pirates increasing, and their operational zone now ecompassing the main Gulf oil trade route, there is no doubt the demand for personal vessel security is flourishing. Shippers and insurance companies have been in discussion with PSC's regarding on-board security and security escorts. However, not only are there legal issues regarding PSC's providing security on flagged vessels, but also safety issues if a firefight were to ensue. Example, the Sirius Star. The idea of staging a firefight aboard a supertanker carrying several million barrels of oil is less than desirable. For this reason security provided by escorts and chase vessels may be more effective. Looking at the past year there is no doubt that the United States and its allies are unable to provide adequate security to commerical vessels. You will continue to see growing demand and use of PSC's to provide maritime security.
Hey FUCK YOU! you ever have some gang of chicken shit asswipes cruise up next to you and tell you what's yours is thiers because they got guns and shut up or they'll take your life? I have. So FUCK YOU and your naive bleeding heart pseudo-rebel piss ant crybaby bull shit! There's two ways to deal with pirates: 1) show them some fire power and they'll run like Englishmen from a women. or the preferable method 2) play possum and blow those pussy ass bitches outa the water. And leave 'em under the water. FUCK YOU!!!
My point is that anyone shooting at anyone else in a situation that in the long run can be resolved by helping develop the country is retarded. Perhaps if some of that massive military budget went into foreign regeneration there would be less need for pirates. I'm not sayin what they're doing is acceptable, but I am saying for most of them it's undertandable. Sure the people organising it are probably scum. But i'm guessing most of the crew have very little choice in the matter. Shooting them really won't accomplish much when there are plenty of people n the countries in the exact same situation. What's the great military plan? Keep on shooting them until there's no-one left to become a pirate?
I'm sure no one thinks it's morally driven. The point is that these people need to eat. Given the country's history of over-fishing and pollution dumping, and the multi-billion dollar tankers regularly passing through the neighborhood, piracy makes perfect sense. Sure, there may be some funding from some dark places, but those aren't the sort of people you see on these excursions. Honestly, I have no sympathy for the hostages. It's just part of the job- hauling billions of dollars worth of product through a part of the world full of poor people who don't like you very much. Those of you who say that getting shot is just part of being a pirate, should look at it both ways.
i don't care about oil supertankers i don't care about cruise ships as a result, i don't really care much about pirates, either [ya ho]
