ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yea.. go for it.. just explore knotty know how & be sure u dont do anythubg dumb like use wax (why the 1 kid said his freinds dreads smelled) & ya dont gotta backcomb..
Oh. I was always under the impression that it was difficult for people with straight hair. Learn somethin new every day. Someone who knows how should do a "How to do Dreads" thread. That'd be sweet! If you look online (google for example) all you see is web sites that want to sell you a method, or a wax, or whatever it is. No one ever just explains in plain english on how to do it. There should be a "How to" with pictures and stuff that'd be awesome!
oh yeah and all you have to do is stop combing or brushing your hair. just wash it once a week or so with dr. bronners
dreads are NOT clean, not matter what you do, who has them, how they take care of them dreads are not clean period. one of my biggest pet peaves is people who smell bad, or finding myself smelling bad typical i will take a minimum of 2 showers a day just to ensure i'm always clean, smelling good, feeling good so in my world dreads are disgusting and dont hate on fake tits cause you've never had a pair of your own to feel
Big misconception, you can shampoo your hair 2 or 3 times a day, you just can't condition it, so I don't understand how that is dirty...
Do it. I have had dreads for 7 years now and can't imagine myself without them. -I wash them with dial soap three times a week to keep them clean. -Rinse them out with salt water four times a week to lock them back up. -Use rosemary spray (rosemary/water/water bottle) to keep the itchies away on my scalp. -Have several times dyed them different colors and have bleached my bangs more times than I can count. -Once a month I rewax and trim each dread individually to keep them tight and neat/clean looking. I honestly think my dreads are way more work than having a normal hair style, but I love them so. They now go past my buttcheeks.
Yeah i dont do much of anything to my hair. I wash it, air dry, and if i have to be somewhere nice i brush it. It tends to start separating by itself so im gonna give it a few weeks to see if it wants to dread then maybe backcomb...
