Im not a hunter expert. but i never really cared for him. it sad that he died because alot of people looked up to him, but suicide dosent suprise me. the guy had little regard for his health, safety, mind. suicide seems fitting for him.
in the documentary about him he talks about how he felt like he couldnt write after he became famous since he couldnt just observe events, because he became the event... he said that when he was at a function with Jimmy Carter he was asked for more autographs than carter... so i think that might have had something to do with it, and he may have been ill... We love ya HST. i cried all day for you
Thank you for your well written words Euphoric. I'm sure Hunter would approve. Do you have any more poetry?
I would have rather seen the guy go down in some massive gun fight were he single handedly killed 76 terrorist with a machine gun with only 13 rounds in it, while defending his farm. I'll drink a glass of wild turkey for him, and just remember the legend and not get to hung up on the death. The worst part is we don't get anymore of his writting. Fuck it he went down how he wanted to, he didn't let anyone else tell him anything. The only person I still have respect for after shooting themself. RIP thanks for the books, see ya in the news.
You will never know how you laid bare the reality of politics to me and how much you opened my eyes to what could be done with the English language. It is said that anyone who appreciates politics and good sausage should never watch either one being made--Hunter Thompson always showed politics for what it was, a hedonistic, egotistical power orgy. I will miss you. In my own country I am in a far-off land I am strong but have no force or power I win all yet remain a loser At break of dawn I say goodnight When I lie down I have a great fear of falling. --Francois Villon
I personally think that this poem is rather shitty, but I will spare its deletion and will move it to the HST thread.
lots of pain from surgeries and his back. I think I'd rather go out while still in the game, somewhat. I think I'd really prep the family, though.
do you really think suicides are thinking that far ahead? My experience is a wave washes over and spurs the action. I hear you, though my skanky step sister tried to kill herself in front of her 3 yo (and again at age 9) pity she wasn't sucessful. (you would have to know her)
but I'd be he's just extremely lonely (see Dante's "wood of suicides" in the Inferno. awesome!) maybe they are just completely by themself and will be until God let's him and all of us in on the secret (which might or might not be a joke). But you can't really judge. Some ppl who commit suicide might go straight to the punch line. I just have a negatve western view though. In lots of cultures they don't see suicide as so horribl.e Look at Japan.
sounds like that poor skanky step sister might really need some help & understanding. maybe you can't give it to her but please remember hurt ppl hurt ppl. she's probly just miserable and can't help it. I'm given you the benefit o the doubt cause you're smart enough to post here.
he always said he wanted to end his life on his own terms. his health was degrading and he knew he was basically dieing slowly. he had a long life filled with contributions to the world and he was at the end. he would probably hate to die in a hospital bed or by some stupid disease. i'm very happy for him and i'm glad that his close friends and family are taking it well. oh, and they'll be shooting hs ashes out of a cannon in a fireworks display. just as he wished.
yes! i was hoping they'd stick to the way he wanted it in his will. so they can have that awesome monument with the fist with the 2 thumbs at the top of theyre property.. rockin
