I was talking about the evolutionary goals of humans. The specialization of diet is a limiting factor in long term survival of a species not an advantage. It is one of the most common causes of extinction.

If everybody, today, became vegetarians, its possible that in thousands of years, the genetics responsible for the ability to digest meat could have been bred out. In the future that would be a limiting factor for survival.

i don't know if you read all my posts. i'm not advocating total vegetarianism (though i don't agree that would be a bad thing; we are kind of above the food chain if you know what i mean); i simply believe that the way we treat the animals before we eat them is cruel and unnecessary. not to mention eating red meat is unhealthy for humans, too.

thing is, I don't eat meat that much. probably less than once a week. but I sort of crave chicken somedays..... not to mention I love turkey and gravy...

I also eat salmon like it's my job and I don't think veggies typically eat seafood

I hate hunting for sport, it's barbaric to hunt and kill an animal for fun.

Nah that's something like pectatarians that eat fish butno other meat.
I just hate it when they call themselves vegetarian because it means whenever we I go elsewhere in Europe, I get served fish. :frown:

hahaha. i hate when people do that, too.

many of our friends are vegetarian and vegan. lotsa good food, but cooking to satisfy everyone at a party is kind of a bitch. and when i whip up something for kai's school teachers and stuff, i have to list the ingredients for them and make meat and no meat food.

I guess that usually, when we buy meat from a store, we don't necessarily realize that it was once a living animal and that now it's dead. I mean, we can't really picture what has been going on with an animal till it came to look like that. And I'd say this holds for parts of an animal that we buy for food. When I was a kid, I couldn't picture that, and what my parents bought for food and was meat seemed like an object to me...
Also, not doing the hunting and killing yourself may appear like you are not responsible for that animal's death.
