Kind of relevant; I was walking home with my husband and daughter from our neighborhood Halloween Blockparty, and just as we were almost home, the tsunami alarms started blaring. My husband is a meterologist and was called into work for what ended up being a 1.9 ft tsunami or something alike. This happens at least once a year. I don't know anybody who takes these warnings very seriously anymore.
It passed by me 200 mi out to sea, and I could feel how big that fucker is. My palms were sideways and flags were getting ripped to shreds. Good luck to those in the northeast.
Everything is shut down here in Philly, a state of emergency has been declared, all of the public transportation went off at midnight, the schools and government buildings are all closed etc. And I'm at work, next to a small river, surrounded by trees, in a makeshift temporary office that will likely be miles away from here at this time tomorrow :3 I'm thinking about dropping acid and going car-skiing.
I'm in Lancaster County PA, Sandy is coming right over top of us today. I live in an old house with big windows surrounded by lots of tall trees. I might be slightly nervous.
I'm probably going to fill up a couple jugs with water and make some extra ice to keep things cold if the power goes out, but thats about it. I can always cook on my camping stove if it's going to be out for a while.
October Has Always Been A Good Time Of Year To Take A Cruise.... Bon Voyage My Friend, And Don't Forget To Send Us A Message In A Bottle...:seeya: Cheers Glen.
I am not very impressed so far. Although, I guess its supposed to intensify here throughout the afternoon. I'm wishing all those in the Northeast and Midatlantic the best! I hope you're all safe and don't lose power so you can hang on HF all day
Well, I am off tonight, so I decided to go out to the store this morning after work and pick up some goodies for this evening (fruit, nuts, shrimp, beer), that way I don't have to leave the house if it's too nasty later on. The store was fuckin' mobbed. The shelves where the water is were almost completely bare. Well, I just got home a little while ago, had some sushi for lunch, and now am hunkered down for the remainder of the day in my warm, cozy little abode. I am just hoping I don't lose power, because then I won't be able to talk to you guys on the intertubes. Right now it's rainy and overcast, and the wind is just starting to pick up. Nothing much yet, though. I am sure that will have changed when I wake up this evening.
it was so windy last night i should have gone out and raked the leaves so they would blow into the next neighbourhood
