While I don't like fighting and violence unless neccesary, I totally agree with you. And I want to let you know what you're doing for this kid is AWESOME, and don't stop, because he'll really need you now. I'm 21 years old. When i was growing up I had similar issues in school, wasn't the most popular by any means, was bullied, etc. I had a few teachers who actually stopped to care and be good to me and let me tell you it helped so much. You could be saving this kid's life. So please, as a former child who was in the same situation and also had a teacher who cared, PLEASE don't stop. He needs you.
My shitty childhood and the positive impact a couple of teachers had on my life is what persuaded me to become a teacher. Kids need positive role-models.
Yeah teaching is a very underrated job, you're doing good work taking an active interest in the students.
