yeah, the mistakes there are intentional. i just thought it was funny i might get a t shirt made with it on. (i'm on my ds at the moment, hence the lack of capitalisation!)
HAHA fucking rediculous. Don't suppose you've read "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" by Lynne Truss? If you haven't...you'll love it. I have a signed copy
She's a really amazing lady. I went to her seminar at Exeter university a couple of years ago and she had me laughing throughout, which is how I managed to get her to sign my copy of the book ( I had owned it for about a year previous). Very special.
haha a lot of people mess up ridiculous. no one means to ridicule you. or should i say... redicule? but really, if you know the Latin roots, you're golden. i read some of eats shoots and leaves when my mom planted it on the back of my toilet in high school. an old favorite of mine is Anguished English... my grandmother, who taught English, and my aunt, who's a linguist, always get a kick out of reading it when we're all together. those misplaced modifiers seem more absurd every time.
i never took grammar in school. i haven't the foggiest idea what modifiers, participles (sp?) or any of that other gunk is. however, i can tell when something doesn't look or sound right.
She used to go to my school. I'm so glad I found this thread. Seriously, I thought I was the only one
i enjoy how people get "definitely" wrong. it comes out "defiantly." not only is there a typo, but they were spelling it "definately."
