Its a nasty habit i developed, because in my first years my father had a big "she must speak French more than English" complex, and i find these things hard to shift also
Sorry to bring this thread back up.. but at ASDA (where i work..) there's a new sign on the door saying "Visitors and colleagues entrance" I can't believe it, i'm going to take a picture when i go tonight and throw a tantrum at the important people about it. I don't even find it funny now, every time i see the sign i just want to get a big fat pen and draw them on. I guess i shouldn't get annoyed about it, but you learn about apostrophes in primary school!
I was out shopping yesterday and spotted a sign outside a sandwich shop..."Fancy trying somethink new today?" Ill get a photo later. I was all
While I eating a packet of hoola hoops earlier I nearly choked as I read,"In a hole world of their own". Outrageous.:cuss:
Actually, I don't know if it could be classed as a pun. A pun is usually a play on words involving words that sound similar, rather than a visual/grammar confusion. Anyone care to chime in here?
Jesus, Power_13 - I posted in humour myself. No need to go into the extent of explaining the definition of the word 'pun', mate - I'm perfectly aware of it's meaning!!!
It's all tongue in cheek me old, never take Mr13 seriously...........ever! It once cost me a finely tuned ginger mullet which I'll never grow back
I couldnt get a photo of the sandwich shop atrocity A guy who was obviously the manager or owner or something was standing in the doorway smiling at customers with his head held high, obviously so very proud of his little business. I couldnt do it to him. I wasnt sure telling him I wanted a photo because it was such an interesting sign would hold up. Still, I did walk away fuming. Somethink. Dear me
Alright, el twattimus, calm down. I was born out of wedlock and raised in sin. Education passed me by.
I couldn't believe my eyes lastnight(last night)......it was only yesterday I'd posted on this very thread viewing my disgust at the pun clearly displayed on a packet of hoola hoops eaten minutes before seeing this thread.....hours later I was just about to order from a takeaway, when at the bottom of the menu I noticed this..."Order from Hals and impress you pals", well I can tell you Hal....we were impressed, we laughed for hours. I'm still laughing today......will attach photo shortly
hehehe!... a rampant, unfettered apostrophe! Well it had me a giggling Yeh, I think people PANIC and stick an apostrophe into words for fear of underusing them! The spoken word is so pretty when used well I must add, I'm not a grammer snob though!
