But like most of those fantastic multi purpose home items they tend to also have little quirks, like yelling, screaming, crying, throwing deadly objects, and sometimes making you want to sleep with one eye open. :D

nothin wrong with doing it stove top, nothing wrong with doing it in a rice cooker either
i used to be able to do rice stovetop perfectly every time. then for some reason it changed, and mine always sticks funny to the bottom and makes the pan a horrible bitch to clean. rice cooker = dont have to check on it to make sure im not doing that, and the pan is way easier to clean. usually when i cook supper its something that requires some supervision/fairly regular stirring like a stir fry, i find it easier to just focus my attention on that than worry about a bunch of different things at once

I have one that has a steamer on top and I find myself cooking with it almost everyday...It's something that I am glad that I actually purchased...

I'm surprised so many people don't have them. Rice cookers for the win!
    They make such awesome rice.
Of course, it's pretty easy to make decent rice in the microwave too. But I hate making it on the stovetop.

Rice cookers aren't expensive. You can get one for 20 bucks easy. I think ours was $30 and it makes wonderful, soft, clean rice. I find rice on the stovetop too sticky, but I guess that's just because I'm no good at making on the stove.
