Eugene: But such abstraction proves too boring! The spatial dimensions alone 'appear' to our senses. The big fault with the big bang is the notion that it is supposed to mark the "beginning" of the universe! You forget to add that the intelligent life continued to evolve, to divine where life will lead. Intelligent life has always wanted to belong to the future.
what i haven't seen anyone "prove" is whether it makes a dimes worth of difference whether they can or not. =^^= .../\...
Are we really in control now? You do know that evolution occurs mostly during periods of extreme hardships where the majority of a population is wiped out. Religious people always refute evolution with a statement like "If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?". Which again just shows their lack of understanding, Hardships don't always occur all over the world at one time. Everywhere we have land locked species we see signs of evolution. In rich developed worlds the human population is already starting to de-evolve or become weaker. If we survive the industrial age without destroying ourselves it is easy to see that in a few thousand years every birth, every newborn will need many operations and medical procedures to survive. We are letting people survive and reproduce who would naturally not survive. The only current real way to evolve and improve the human race would be the very controversial breeding of selective people and sterilization of others. Good luck getting a democracy to vote in that kind of law. That was a little off topic, you also mentioned all mater being conscious… No, no it's not. I already defined consciousness.
Prove to me that consciousness is anything more than what I explained it was! Nobody is saying these things just snapped, it is a process that took billions of years. Wrap your head around billions of years, wrap your head around immeasurable, virtually infinite numbers of molecules, and wrap your head around natural selection because you continually seem to ignore these things. We do have a good idea how life originated from unconscious elements and scientific evidence to support it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_of_life That’s just the formation of life, consciousness comes billions of years after that. And it didn't just snap on, it slowly developed. Again NATURAL selection, billions of years...
themnax A difference to whom themnax? relaxxx: I think the weddings of certain people would be great, but no need at all to sterilize anyone. The institution of marriage causes too much confusion.

Phospholipids (of an appropriate length) can spontaneously form lipid bilayers, a basic component of the cell membrane. 3. The polymerization of nucleotides into random RNA molecules might have resulted in self-replicating ribozymes (RNA world hypothesis). 4. Selection pressures for catalytic efficiency and diversity result in ribozymes which catalyse peptidyl transfer (hence formation of small proteins), since oligopeptides complex with RNA to form better catalysts. Thus the first ribosome is born, and protein synthesis becomes more prevalent. 5. Proteins outcompete ribozymes in catalytic ability, and therefore become the dominant biopolymer. Nucleic acids are restricted to predominantly genomic use. Ok, I'll say it again. We do not know how life formed. Those are 5 educated guesses about how life formed. Please explain how energy can be conscious. I should not have used the word "snap" to describe how atoms, according to you, got their consciousness. Even if t took billions of years, what can cause it to become alive? Plus, I doubt you know what any of those 5 guesses mean, lol. I don't.
...Someone failed a little school of thought called... ASTROPHYSICS. DO you even realize what you are mate? A conglomerate encompass of what those many atoms(by ways of gravity, electromagnetism, weak nuclear force and strong nuclear force), have merged together as, over a period of time(earth scientific case of self germanating, and populating ignition) into a reconcussive cycle which is a heavy delve into the great and intricate workings of Bioptic science which encompasses the many things we are only just scratching the surface of in any significant fronts. Though thanks to more stable development in (Forgive me) the corporate commerical, private commerical, and governement sectors of scientifc discovery and research, there is again igniting a new platue of research workings that bring together again the great minds out there, houdning this shit for a living. And that's as great as any great civil feat. I say we focus more on some standerdization issues, so we can better afford more enlightening and enticing feeds of the mind as we continue to grow internally alongside with externally. Balance is by far, still my most signifcant take on things. Don't go out swinging, live on breathing. God Can Understand that much, vanity's riding, doesn't soaly depend on our great diety. For it does state in the bible, He won't save us, We will save ourselves... The sentiment is still ok though, I never like the idea of merely one answer either, and thankfully in life, we also depend on that level of contrast. So whatever it is worth, God Bless. Peace and Love.
Ok, imagine a dead guy. He died in his sleep. As he dies, consciousness leaves his body. He is still made of every single atom he was when he was alive, but what gives him that special touch that makes him conscious? Consciousness isn't physical, you can't touch it.
Yeal Consciousness is a function of the physical. It ceases when the physical ceases to function. In the case of your dead guy (let's call him God), his consciousness stopped when he did. Don't feel too alone. The idea that life creates itself is incredible even to atheists!
whatever other life or lives there may or may not happen to be. there COULD be infinite of them, not just one indeffinately. or any other combination immaginable or even unimmaginable. with or without them, there is still this one to consider, and how we togather create the conditions we seperately experience. we don't know the beggining or the end of what exists or can, and i'm not claiming to. only acknowledging that we don't. i wouldn't kick my invisible friends out of bed for eating nontangable crackers. but that doesn't change that it is up to us to avoid messing up what we have to live with for each other and thus ourselves. =^^= .../\...
LOL, tell that one to a brain surgeon!! I know people who are missing part of what their consciousness once was. Did only PART of their spirit go to heaven to wait for the rest of itself!!!???
Themnax Phew! You had me worried there for a second! And so the difference is out! Some understand that an invisible friend is pretend, and some need to have their invisible friend defenestrated and his invisible crackers devoured.
Not just "guesses", if you look on the site there is scientific experiments that support this theory. No, I don't know what it all means, I have a rough idea about most of it and I do not have the time or even desire to research all of it. All I know is it makes a hell of a lot more sense than the fairytales and lies of creationists. Consciousness developed over billions of years due to the NATURAL Selection process from reflex actions to nervous reactions to sensory processing reactions to sensory and memory processing actions to more complex processes of sensory and memory for species interactions and survival. When animals started hunting other animals as food the hunters needed to develop basic problem solving skills involving the ability to foresee consequences of actions. This is the root beginning of imagination. As natural selection gave way for more and more complex brains and more complex problem solving imaginations we get primates with tool making abilities and complex social structures. Fast forward 5 million more years of natural selection and we get a new species with a mind complex enough to ask "why do I exist?" and an imagination great enough to make up all kinds of explanations.
You are the most self-delusional, idiotic person I have ever met. Consciousness isn't THE BRAIN. It is IN the brain. The brian loses NO MATTER when we die, therefore, we can positively determine that consciousness is not a physical thing. I alreay explained this, but your egotistical mind, apparently, forces you to contradict everything I say, even when it makes perfect sense. Think of it this way, and don't twist this around like I know your going to want to. Think of a house. Inside there is a man. This man has a happy life in the house. One day, the house catches on fire, and the man is forced to get up and walk away. If you don't understand the metaphor in this, you truly are an idiot.
^^^^ OMG, WOW!!! ^^^^^ Just to let everyone know, I stop responding to creationists when they fully prove themselves to be complete fucking immature retards!!! OMG what a retard!! And yes, I said OMG, it's an expression, get over it before you even make an ass of yourself about it!!
I'm sorry, I really shouldn't go here and I told myself I wouldn't but I can't resist it so here goes; what fucking grade did you make it to?? I'm still trying to get over your absolutely fucktarded reasoning about the brain loosing no matter at death which again proves your complete lack of insight as to how it functions even after we’ve gone and explained LIFE and CONSIOUSNESS to you. It's is not just matter, it's state of life formed within it and the electrical signals between the cells. The RAM in your computer does not get heavier as you fill it with information, it weighs the same with power or no power but when the power is gone, so is all the information. It's not that I don't understand your stupid explanation and metaphors, they are just fucking stupid, pointless and completely unsubstantiated !!! Take your fucktarded metaphor about the man in the house which is complete BULLSHIT because not one person on this planet has any PROOF that your "MAN" has ever walked out of his "HOUSE". Now here's a metaphor that lots of people actually observe and completely DISCREDITS the entire MEANING behind your stupid metaphor: Your "man" is in his house and suddenly a transport truck crashes trough his house taking out his living room and bathroom. The man is still living in his house but he's not even a man anymore, he's not the same person at all, he's no longer the same human being!! He's now a child with the mentality of a 5 year old who will never have the mental capacity he once had before the damage to his "house". Now tell me the fucking house has nothing to do with who that man was!!!!
