I have a cat you should meet... I'm pretty sure if he was human he would have an IQ of about seven. Oh, and my ex used to have a bunny that he claimed was retarded, but it had sustained a head injury when it was a baby. So if a person can't support other people, he or she does not have the right to live? Should the elderly be "put down" when they reach a certain age? Or better yet, when we retire, should we all just be taken out back and shot because we aren't contributing anymore? Do you also believe that all dogs that do not bring their master the paper deserve to be killed? Do you have any respect for life whatsoever? Better question: are you a troll? Because I can't think of anything more obvious to provoke a reaction than picking on the mentally handicapped. It's really unoriginal.
I think its the other way around .. this society is a burden on the mentally and physically handicapped.
In a world filled with mental retards and the physically disabled; there would be a pecking order, and there’s little doubt the cripples and the quadriplegics’ would be on top and the mentally challenged their slaves pushing their wheelchairs and generally following orders Hotwater
Well, thats hypocrisy isnt it. A go die for the guy that thinks the mntally challenged should die You'd have to get inside the heads of those with severe mental and physical disabilities to really make a judgement, in some cases it may just be prolonging a life of unbearable pain, suffering and boredom and frustration. In some cases it might be just as if its a life time tripping off their heads, as is the case with Down Syndrome patients who usually have that innocent and childlike happiness quality. If categories like terminal cancer patients that want to euthanase rather than go through the suffering exist, then surely there are some severely mentally and physically disabled people that may choose the same, keeping them alive would be more about everyone elses need to feel morally superior than that persons concerns
How would we decide this if the person in question is not coherent enough to give consent? Who should have that power do you think? Because I wouldn't know where to start. I have nothing against euthanasia. Well actually, I do, but just personally, and I would never want to enact a law just based on my own feelings of ick. I know many who don't agree with me, and I really have no argument against them. I would have to say I would only vote for it if it were consensual, though.
I used to find it hard to deal with mentally challenged people, untill i met my girlfriends brother, who has Aspergers syndrome
I have high functioning autism should I be killed? What about Einstein? What about that painter from the movie My Left Foot? The term "retarded" is not a definite term, if you say someone is retarded then you are including those that can function a bit or not at all. When I had a speech delay from autism (Which wasn't diagnosed at the time) I was labeled as some doctors as being mentally delayed, but that wasn't the case later on. What if they had gone through with the euthanasia? (In a Nazi-like health care system) Sorry for the rant, but the idea upsets me.
