the instant i saw the thread title, i was shocked and appalled that you would launch a personal attack against me on a public forum like this!
i'm disliked frequently. i'm pretty ambivalent to the concept. it's not my job to be universally loved. but bird wants to fuck my brains out. i know this.
i have no problem with not being liked. i have a problem with people creating incentives for conditions which they then bitch about and try to blame on anything and everything other then the real causes of them. and i really don't give a dam if its intended personal or not. we live in too big, wonderful and diverse of a universe to ever take it that way. the only thing making it personal does is to make human relationships tedius and undesirable. =^^= .../\...
I'm thinking you are just upset or angry about something, and thus you're angry at the whole world. lol. And that you don't actually mean what you said.
Wow Makaveli. Thats a really interesting thing to think about. Who is responsible for open and pure communication? Hmmm. I think sole responsibility can't lay in either court. It has to be both the responsibility of the thread starter and the thread reader to ensure that there isn't any crossed lines.
While I agree that both parties SHOULD be accountable, and again hate to agree that thread or idea starters are ultimately responsible for the cohesivness of a discussion, it is widely known that the average listener is not usually as interested in what is being discussed. Essentially when you want to convey an idea and you KNOW your audience is slightly, or completely, ignorant, you do have the responsibility to provide the information necessary to create the desired effect. That's what thread or idea creation is about, really. A desired effect. We want people to learn, discuss, debate, and correct us. If the starter of said thread(by which I also mean idea) does not take the responsibility upon themselves to provide the necessary information to create teh desired effect than they have failed. However, they have merely failed themselves because they were the most interested(generally) in the thread to begin with. Frankly those partaking in the thread are also failing themselves by not taking in free knowledge, but they are failing themselves less, simply due to the interest factor. Personal interest, in the original idea as well as sharing of more ideas, dictates that the thread starter be ultimately responsible for how much or little they get of what they want. Edit: This is like kicking myself in the nuts, hardcore. I was trying to show the exact opposite point when I made the thread that stemmed the discussion I mentioned.
before I respond .... is that thread where it was being discussed in another forum? I went back a few pages and I can't see it.
That thread is UBER old. Probably 3 years by now. It also cannot be found since it was started by TheChaosFactor. If you're interested I will provide you with the meat of the discussion. Edit: I warn you, it's a long winded thread on both parts of the discussion.
Oh. How long back does the archive here go? Isn't there a link to the thread? if not I'm interested to read if you're interested in posting.
Every thread and post that I originated as TCF is invisible to everybody but me, and I have to log into that account to see it. Searching it will not yield any results. As it's extremely long I will most likely PM it to you. Even without other members aside from myself and the other guy(OSF) I think it spans multiple pages. I'll be back in a minute. Lemme go get it.
