i hate cell-phones, i,ll be the last person in the world without one. the pc,s enough for me. mabye i,m just not important enough to need one, but thats ok i like hiding.
I have an iPhone and I use it mostly to browse the internet. I use whatsapp a lot to stay in touch with some of my best friends from Santo Domingo, we FaceTime every now and hen. It's nice when you're so far away. Besides that I don't really like talking or texting that much, I screen all my calls and most often than not will not answer to anyone who calls, the only person I always take calls from is John because we don't really call each other to have a conversation, if I'm with John and Sophia, I often forget that I have a phone. I've never felt too connected for having a cellphone because you can always turn it off. I like that one small device has replaced the need for many things. I can't remember the last time I brought my camera or my laptop (if it wasn't work related) somewhere.
I only use my cell phone for the occasional call and text message, I can't do internet stuff on it. When I don't want to be available all day I will shut the phone off or just leave it at home. I don't want a newer phone with internet because the montly costs seem to be at least 10 euro's more. I also just feel I don't need to use internet everywhere. So I like my old cell phone, it serves it's purpose well for little cost. Cellphones only get annoying when I see friends too busy with it. I even caught more than one of my friends sighing when the phone gives a message that their facebook or whatsapp is updated, like 'man not again, what bullshit is on there now' and pick it up and go watch it... well yeah, no big issue I suppose but I am really glad that stuff is not costing me any money or thought myself
and here's me all excited because I'll have a working phone again in like 4 days haha Would be better if my Android phone was fixed though ._. I will probably still try to take breaks from it though, as there is something very nice about that!
I don't care for cell phones either, but they can be a useful tool at times. However, they won't work out here in the hills and hollers very well......
I dislike all kinds of phones. I finally went smartphone this year. It's handy for emergencies small and large. The camera features are handy and I now always have something that I can write and edit poems and such without having to lug around a journal and pens. (Not everyone you see with a head in the phone is doing nothing, some of use actually produce stuff with our phones) And here's the thing that keeps it all sane: Just because you are on a cell, doesn't mean you have to answer the call. Crazy, eh?!!! Like any tool, it's about how you use it. Be careful on how you judge. You'd praise a person for sitting there reading a physical book but hate on the person starting at thier tablet that's doing the exact same thing. Or praise someone hand writing in a journal but hate on the person that's doing the same thing on thier phone. A good deal of the hate is just curmudgeonly grumblings about a changing world.
I love my android. Having a computer on me 24/7 completely revolutionizes life. I now carry the sum of all human information in my pocket. Gutenberg would weep. I'm making a few apps too, smart phones rock! I'm don't actually talk or text that much though, and I do understand the call of being a hermit.
In my world, I would just go and visit the people I need to talk to..I am living forever anyway, I am in no rush
did ya see all the people pissed off at apple for banning bitcoin apps.? there are videos on youtube of Iphone5,s getting smashed with a hammer, shot with a deer rifle. lol just throwing money away, pissed off at apple. lol
ive upgraded mine since posting in this thread..now i have a fancy smart one but i turned off the data and just use wifi for apps
I too don't like cell phones. Almost 90% of the communication is like-- just keeping in touch/ gossip.
nobody actually likes cellphones. It's just something forced on us by the society we live in. It's just like fakebook and all the rest. everybody wants out, but we're all interdependent so we force each other in.
THAT'S ME! I like you,eggsprog-kiss me! I have a phone-which is usually turned off in a pouch on my belt. If I suddenly find myself surrounded by Martians,or teetering on a precipice,I'll use it. UNTIL then,I own IT. IT does not own ME.
