I don't yell at you because you're always sober...

This is sooo much harder than youe expect though.
Having 1000 dollars saved up is awesome but in all honestly it's not a lot, considering that most apartments need first month, last month and a security deposit. This alone for me was $1150, before I could even move in.

Right now, assuming that you still live with your folks, your priority is school. You probably need money for a cell phone bill at most. When you are living on your own, it becomes increasing difficult to work enough to pay rent and go to school at the same time. That get's people stuck because they need to work to make rent but they need to go to school to live comfortably. You won't be doing "what you want". Take advantage of this right now, a free place to live, and I'm assuming, clothes on your back and food on the table. This is the only time in your life that you'll be able to go to school without any other responsibilities like rent and health insurance and groceries and it goes on and on.

It's so awesome to here that you're interested in photography, though. Keep sticking with what you love and I'm sure it will lead you to great places. Things will "work themselves out" a lot easier when you have more choices, and more choices are easily made available through education.

I don't mean to lecture you, I've just had beaten into my head in college social work classes that education is the key to rising above poverty so any time I hear people are dropping out just because they are bored and "don't want to do what everyone else does" it truely stirs my blood.

I really feel that you are more likely to get stuck in societies boundries by dropping out of school. Anywhere I've worked where people are miserable and hated their jobs, the people were usually uneducated and unable to have any other job that they are interested in.

Of course their are exceptions, my dad never went to school and he is very successful, but this is the exception these days.

You dont need to follow the traditional path, work for a while, travel, volunteer, sit on your couch, take your time, whatever. But the further you go with you education the more likely you are to find a job you enjoy and live comfortable without being forced into a cubicle.

School is VERY important these days. It's very hard to do what the generations of our parent's or grandparent's might have been able to do on no education.

School is really the only option if you want to be more than lower middle class.

I didn't graduate 12th grade cause I basically stopped doing all work and skipped some classes. But a year later I got my ged, and thank god for that. I haven't gone to school, and I got pregnant, but I will attend culinary school in the near future.

    I have my GED.
But I think it's unfair that it's so hard for young people to make it nowadays, when they want to do something different than the flow.

I'm not dropping out to say "fuck society", it's not supposed to be a statement it's just my personal choice on how I want to live my life.

I think too much importance nowadays is put into doing well in highschool and learning all the same bull .

And I know dropping out won't change that,
and it's not that I think I'm too good for highschool or anything,
I just dont' want to spend my time doing that.
I AM going to go to college,
if I somehow decide not to go, that won't be because I dropped out
I've always planned to go to college

I dunno. I just want a few years to get out there and experience new things before I settle down in school and my future and shit.

And this attitude is awesome. Seriously. My girlfriend hated high school. She skipped classes and didn't really give a fuck about her grades. She wasn't ready for college so she went and volunteered in Africa for a few months and when she came back she had a new perspective and view. She's now in college and loves it. She has a 3.8 GPA and really loves school but it wouldn't have been like this if she hadn't taken time off.

I realize now that you DO want to go to school, you just arn't really ready yet. And it's great you realize this because, especially with college, people just go because they "have to" and just go through the motions without any real goal or drive.
