Hotwater posted a pic of himself in uniform from the 90s in another room. He looked like a nice young man. I'm sure he wouldn't engage in any type of rowdy behavior. :)

Wait a minute, did he say that the patrol was to help set-up a piping system so this small village could get clean water??
I'm so confused, I thought all the military ever did was drive around like assholes, shoot innocent women and children and generally just act in such a way that everybody hates America.
All my misinformed, biased and ridiculously simplistic views of the military just got rocked to their foundations.
To think that they did some good, humanitarian work just goes against everything in this thread. Say it ain't so Orison, please say it ain't so.

I want to know why my tax money is being spent on soldiers in expensive equipment installing water pipelines in foreign countries. what about all of the families in Appalachia without access to clean water?

The title of course is not true, its misleading, just like 90% of what you see about the US Military in Iraq. What it really is is this, Soldiers handing out soccer balls to Iraqi children and administering medicine to livestock. Scenes include Soldiers loading and playing with soccer balls, setting up an area for working with the livestock, giving animals injections, handing out the balls and playing soccer with the children and a Soldier speaking through a translator explaining the significance of the soccer balls...

i did things like this./sometimes very heart warming . I was a combat soldier, but with a supply company. we dont really engage in fighting, or seek it.. We do however supply the killing machine with all the necessary equipment to continue operations./:rolleyes:

Is the US government, and the relevant agencies, doing nothing to protect and improve access to clean water in Appalachia?

DIANA, W.Va. -- The Appalachian Regional Commission is putting up $1.5 million to extend water service to the Webster County community of Diana.
Congressman Nick Rahall and West Virginia Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Carte Goodwin announced the grant Thursday. They say it will provide water service 160 homes, eight businesses, an elementary school and provide fire protection throughout the town.
The grant accounts for half the total cost of the $3 million project. The state is providing $445,000, while local contributions total just over $1 million.
