My point is simply that both parties are "guilty" of "murder". And regardless of the insects , plants are essential to our life cycle , not animals.
god... "facepalm" "other animals eat animals we are animals" noooo shit. But hunting and killing something out of it's own freedom and natural environment because you need to survive and raising raping and confining a concious life-form simply for the flesh isn't cool with me and I couldn't give my hand in marriage to someone who did that, people act like they are mad about it like you care who I would date Most my friends/family eat meat and that like w/e your choice but you can't tell me i'm the only one on here that wouldn't cross the veg line.
comparing plant eating to animal eating and saying they are equal is just.. a level of stupid I can't even start to comprehend.
Well i do agree with you that actually raising animals solely for the purpose of killing them for trophy and food is wrong. However i believe there is no fault in hunting an animal in the wilderness or fishing from the sea as long as you consume the entire animal and utilize the bones and hides as the native americans and teh ancestors of all mankind did. But i don't understand what exactly is "stupid" about equating plant eating to animal eating. Since they are both life forms. Simply because one is conscious and one isn't (as far as we know) , doesn't mean one has more priority over the other. Doesn't mean it is "wrong" to eat one and "right" to eat the other. Mainly , since those are simply concepts that dwell in the minds of humans. What exactly seperates us from other animals that we are above eating them? (and i don't mean domestication for cunsumption cuz that shit is foul) Care to elaborate? I'm not trying to argue , i just want to understand you reasoning. And where did you get "faceplam" ?
Because that's where essentially all of the meat come from is "domestication for consumption" and it is more moral to eat plants then animals, plants won't show effection raise children or scream for their lives, infact alot of plants/trees intend for their fruits to be eaten.
I guess that's exactly my point. It's a matter of personal morals and ethics. It's not an absolute wrong. It's not wrong at all. If it was , then shouldn't other animals eat only plants too? Besides , the protien in meat is what caused our brains to grow during teh times of the first hominidae. Who are we to decide what organism is ok to kill ? Our beliefs don;t project out into the world. Half the time they don;t even reonate from person to person.
there is one major difference between humans and our fellow animals" the ability to think ethically. For many people, ethics keep us eating as low as possible on the food chain. and GeeChee, this IS a vegetarian board, your trite and tired excuses for your own diet do not fly here. you are welcome to ask, but not to berate. That goes for all participants in the thread.
I'm definately not trying to make excuses for my diet. I'm trying to understand yours. Didn't know your skin was so thin, though.
My objection is 'factory-raised' animals that are slaughtered for grocery store meat shelves. The conditions they're raised in are absolutely horrid; however, I have raised cattle, etc. on my own farm and slaughtered them for meat and have no qualms about doing so since they were given the best care and freedom of movement before doing so. All in all though, my diet is mostly veg.
I rarely eat beef. I mainly eat seafood for meat since I live on the coast and I never have to pay for it. On Christmas we hunt our own turkey. I haven't eaten bacon in years. The meat in stores is usually pumped full of hormones and othr unnecessary chemicals.
