Most of the people I know who smoke are pretty skinny. There is only 1 guy I know who is kinda chubby who smokes, and he eats like a pig when he's high. I eat when I'm high, but not the usual munchie stuff like chips and pizza. For some reason fruit tastes sooooooo damn good. It must be all the juices and crunchiness....especially apples...the crunchy ones I love to eat when high, the experience is so much greater
Yeah, I have lost weight and gotten into shape since I started smoking. It was like the weed made me aware of my unhealthy eating a nd lack of exercise. I still get the munchies, but its offset by the fact I eat healthier foods now and exercise all the time. I am now ripped with little body fat and I give a lot of the credit of that to smoking.
personally, i lost weight after i started toking regularly. i don't know how because i eat way more now, but i'm about 10 pounds lighter and a lot thinner looking than before i smoked
i think this dark room needs a candle lit smoking increases metabolism in normal people. some people however have special metabolisms that are slower than normal. when theyse are increased, they can just end up like a normal person. another thing to consider is that some stoners eat a lot while stoned, but little when sober. I am like this, for example. other people who already have eating problems, or for whatever reason, may eat a tonne when stoned, but dont eat less when not stoned. some people are really just retarded, and when they get the munchies spend all of their money on the junkiest, most unhealthy shit there is. some people who do this, if coupled with one of the above cases as well, are not going to get thinner. In the END however, the truth is pRobably that fat people coincide with a similar demographic as self indulgent or depressed people, who can subsequently look to drugs in a similar way to food, and then blame the drugs for their problems. Another thing, i just remembered, is that there are going to be many people who see how easy eating is while stoned, and simply by habit or because theyve found an excuse, or because they have forgotten what normal eating habits are, will eat the munchies all the time and so, in most people cannabis will result in getting skinnier.. but this is no rule. as with the next issue.. AS for the classification of weed, you cant classify it under stimulant/psychedelic/depressant because those terms are absolutely bunk and hopefully can be overturned soon. of all those titles, the MOST appropriate is mild psychedelic. but really there is NO POINT in classing drugs as any of those things if the classification is to be used in some serious discussion. unlike methamphetamine, which stimulates by increasing brain functions, and benzodiazepines which depress by dampening brain functions, cannabis does neither. it affects WHICH brain functions are activated. this means that sometimes, more brain functions will be activated than normal, and other times, less will. factors that influence this are: stimuli around emotional state significance of event one is attending preconceptions of what should be done - a pretty big influence in the end other drugs in the system diet genetic disposition behavior of people around you strain of cannabis recent smoking habits the list goes on in most people, cannabis results in a depressing of behavior. but thats just a reflection of the factors above, not the effect of the drug.
It's not an intoxicant either cuz shit that intoxicates you is poison, such as alcohol. But I've noticed since I started smokin I lost like 25lbs cuz I was a fat kid and I never really get the munchies. but there are some times when I eat alot.
It is strange, because I hear almost everyone talk about the munchies, while stoned. But I've never got the Munchies. I never get hungry when high, I jsut get thirsty. The munchies however probably are the reason that people gain weight when they smoke marijuana.
Yeah^^ I think alot of people play into the munchies thing. They try to convince themselves that they are hungry so that they think the marijuana is working better. I know a girl who does it.
I've gained a little bit of weight since I started back up again, but that's OK because I still have less body fat than I probably should. As a general response, I guess it all depends how appetite-inducing THC is for you, the kind of food you tend to eat following the inception of hunger, metabolism, and the amount of exercise that you tend to get. Like most attributes of Marijuana, the individual is capable of determining - as well as responsible for - a host of potential lingering side effects (i.e. weight gain, productivity, legal intervention, ect.).
...and as for the discussion of whether or not "the munchies" is an obeyed product of legend, I chalk it up to this: THC heightens senses and rewards the interpretation of them with...well, nice warm feelings. Taste is a sensation, and there's A LOT of delicious food to overload the senses, making it easy to devour a shit load of it.
