The difference between the Beatles and a typical boy band is that the Beatles actually played instruments. Aside from that; if you think the Beatles are childish, you've only listened to their early stuff. Their early stuff was crap. Try the White Album or Sgt. Pepper.
The thrash metal fan in me finds him frustrating. He has the ability to completely wail on guitar, but I can only think of two songs that are actually heavy. Same thing with Vernon Reid from Living Colour, guitar legend, but besides two songs on their first album, they went on to do just putsy pop songs. I mean whats the use of all that practice over decades, I think Hendrix started playing at 4, only to every put out two/three songs that actually showcase it
i thought that was what has been said throughout the entire thread. the conversation just keeps changing because too many people here are butthurt by the idea that someone doesn't worship the same musicians they do, so they make off topic rants.
I actually avoided listening to the Beatles and claimed I hated them until I was 16. Then, I gave them a chance (because of a boy, not my parents! lol), and I actually liked them. I'll be the first to admit, I've tried listening to a lot of different music to "fit in" with whoever I was interested in or whoever I wanted to impress, but I only continued listening to the music I actually liked.
I enjoy primus. I also enjoy floyd, and zepplin to some extent. The beatles, hendrix, and greateful dead are good. The ramones, bad religion, green day, and various other punk can be enjoyable. I enjoy new electronica/techno, by lots of people and groups. I like some bach. What's your problem with liking good music? I don't like music because it's "hippie", or because it fits a trend I'm trying to follow. I like it because it's good music. For any music I like, I can give a good reason for it's appeal to me, from pleasing melody to meaningful lyrics to an enjoyable past experience or time I associate with that music because I heard it then. Fuck off :2thumbsup:
I think I said some dumb shit to you when I first came back, so we're even. It took me a while to get a feel for this place. I'd been gone 3 years.
See, I legitimately hated them from my mum blasting Greatest Hits albums all the time. Now, I respect some of their later work, I guess - but I still only like Eleanor Rigby. Joe Cocker's done some fine tune-ups of their work though (aside from that bad one in Across the Universe) :2thumbsup:
joe cocker's 'little help from my friends' is world shaking! :2thumbsup: Al Green does the beatles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMH-m1Ej2xo"]YouTube - Al Green - I Want To Hold Your Hand.....DAMMIT!.mp4
