The po-po arrests a black guy for stealing a car an dall of a sudden its the po-pos fault. But when the whites do it its wrong. I didn't read the whole 16 pages of this thread but you kids who keep saying you hate rap because of this or that; do you not realize that MTV, wich is obviously what you're basing your opinions of rap/hip-hop on, offeres a very narrow view of it? get your genres straight and you wouldn't have people freaking at you so much.

I love gangster rap lol, I hate pop rap but w/e everyones got thier own opinion. i cant even remember why I called him a ****** so I jus kinda stopped thinkin about it. well if rap is so awesome then why is it so bad at representing itself? tell me why the ONLY fact MANY people know about rap is that it is often violent and vulgar and explicit? i understand there are good rap songs, but then why are they all kept 'underground' and everything? it just doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

 

It's a combination of the fact that crap sells, thug rap does appeal to young black men who don't have many oppurtunities, and is still sometimes very musically impressive, and sometimes lyrically stunning.

Why is the best hip hop indie stuff? Maybe because they're reaching out in a new direction that isn't east coast/ west coast rap feuds, and record executives tend to stick with stuff that has sold in the past. Their concerned with making money, and care little for innovation.

There is hip hop I'm sure you'd like, but I'm not going to try and convert you if you don't want to learn about hip hop. Feel free to have your opinion, but your opinions not organic because you don't fully understand hip hop.
