You're the OP, get over yourself! Just because I expressed an opinion (that was never directed at one person specifically) that you don't like, doesn't mean I'm pissed at you. Though clearly, you're pissed at me. lol And stop being so creepy, sifting through my ancient internet posts... :hide: I find it funny though, that the song you chose to attack me with was by a genre hopping band that can't be placed into any single genre of music. Good job!
I'm a good mixture of all of those. My ipod has jason Sammy Hagar, van halen, avenged sevenfold, Hollywood Undead, Slipknot, bob marley, lil Wayne, and yes, I am going to admit this on a public forum......Justin Bieber too
Even though Prissbaby has already confronted me once before in this thread and accused me of making "personal attacks"? If it stood for "original post", why accuse me of making a personal attack? That makes no sense. It's also a fact, that so far, the OP is the only person in this thread who has accused me of making a personal attack, by posting my personal opinion on the subject. Attacking the general idea is not attacking one person in particular, so why did the OP take it so personally if they saw my post for what it was?
i don't know, i'm not prissbaby. i can't explain why she used the language that she did. you seemed pretty upset with the original post, and posted that thinking that way was "narrow-minded, stupid, and foolish." i can see how that could be taken as a personal attack, even if it was just the post that set you off. then again, when priss called it a personal attack, it was immediately followed with a huge-grin smiley, implying that she wasn't even serious about the accusation. all i know is what i read here, and from what i've read you are the only one who seems to be trying to make an issue out of anything here (other than seized's claims to not like music, which is a different issue entirely). it really doesn't matter. i could be wrong. life is a lot more enjoyable if you learn that you don't always have to be right about everything.
Exactly, but that fact hasn't stopped you from having a go at me anyway has it? But it wasn't "the post" that set me off. Several people in this thread have stated that they judge people based on their musical taste, and none of them saw fit to confront me over my post. And I wasn't "upset", I merely stated my opinion. You have just chosen to misinterpret me, which you have done with several of my posts in the past. In my first reply to Prissbaby, I also used fun, non-serious smileys, yet you seem to have read entirely different interpetations on both posts, so why is the smiley so significant in Prissbaby's post, but not mine? Like I said in another thread, sometimes people just see what they want to see. You accuse me of trying to "make an issue" out of things in this thread, yet I've never directly attacked anyone in this thread. I didn't even quote the OP, or indeed anyone else when I made my opening post in this thread. So the only thing I did, was state a personal opinion. How you can take that as "making an issue" out of things, I have no idea. The last line in your post is very ironic as I think that's exactly where these posts towards me are coming from. You do have to be right about everything. This isnt the first time you have taken issue with my posts when in actuality, you have read something entirely different in them to what was actually meant by them.
It can be, sometimes. Unfortunately, sometimes it only means that somebody hasn't been exposed to a lot of variety in music. Let's face it, most FM stations play the same old shit over and over, and they only cover a few commercial genres, unless you can get a good college station where you live. Branching out can be tough. I grew up listening to classic rock (and still love it), but started learning about classical music at an early age, because of piano lessons. When I took some music classes in college, I got heavily into jazz. There's so much great recorded jazz out there, and so many different jazz styles. That makes it more interesting, but more intimidating to somebody who is new to it. That may keep some people away who could get a lot out of it. As for pop music, I like almost anything recorded between 1950 and 1985 much better than what has come along after 1985. I especially love old Motown, and Stax R&B from the last glory days of Memphis, which never gets played on oldies radio anymore. Most days, at least half of what I listen to was recorded before I was born. I wish more people knew what is out there to be found. Those are two good examples of music that is totally wrapped up in a subculture that I can't relate to. It's hard to separate the music from the culture that goes with it. Rap is kind of that way too. I guess the only time I really judge people in a negative way by their music is when they are fanatically devoted to brain-dead material like Nickelback or Katy Perry or Culture Club. If you can't find anything better, you're not looking very hard, or you have a hearing problem.
Time Warner Cable plays them regularly on their '80's music channel, so they think somebody still wants to hear them. Perfect for that age group! But who was the target audience for "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" And who wants to be reminded of Boy George's face for 40 fuckin' years? I used to think that Duran Duran and Tears for Fears sucked harder than any other groups of their era, but Culture Club's sound seems to have aged worse. Men Without Hats have to be serious contenders too. And I almost feel like doing a shot every time somebody plays that Phil Collins interview snip, "I really don't know why I'm so popular." Can't we all drink to that?
I too judge people by their musical taste. I'm more likely to strike up an intellectual conversation with someone who listens to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9VIutG9GXg"]Quartetto Cetra - Crapa Pelada (1945) - YouTube rather than this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNPlrE9z1vs"]Make It Rain - YouTube I expect to be treated with the same [dis?]respect
Well I guess if you were to judge me would depend on the day you happen to listen in. I can listen to classicial, jazz/blues, 50's, Elvis, Classic Rock, 80's, hip-hop, rNb, to stuff like White Zombie, Cannibal Corps, Disturbed, Pantera. But then I can listen to Katy Parry, Gaga, and that other stuff and then I can listen to dubstep Deadmau5 and others..... One minute it could be Gordon LightFoot then Shaggy then Pink Floyd, Pink to Skrillrex. I can even do country. But not that Gospel stuff.......
