Just because a woman is uninhibited and likes sex doesn't mean she's "slutty". To me, calling someone a slut is making a statement about their character. Maybe the word means something different to you. But to me calling a woman a slut is extremely derogatory.

 

Not double standard at all, I'm just not in a slutty state at this point in my life. When I am in a slutty state, I'll have sex with almost every girl I date, in turn, I wouldn't be good or ready for a relationship. Got it or did it fly over your head?

 

They just debated this word extensively over in RT. I still can't understand why it isn't obvious to most women that some guys use this word in a positive way. The setting, facial expression, and tone of voice should make it clear if "slut" is meant as an insult or as an edgy, bold, profane compliment. If it clearly isn't intended as an insult, there is no reason to take it as one.

You know what? You guys are getting close to changing my mind about this word. The only purpose of a word is to communicate a thought from one person to another. If people can't agree on its definition, the word becomes useless.

 

I agree, likewise the use of the word slag is derogatory.

 

i'm uninhibited. you could also say i'm easy. but if you called me a slut to my face i'd probably kick your ass.

I think of myself as a slut, and some of my friends call me that now and then, but what we mean by it is a person who is sexually liberated to the point of being able to enjoy casual sex sometimes. If a cool guy says that to me, I'll take it as a compliment.

When it is directed at me as a cutting remark, it is usually very easy for me to tell the difference. But I usually don't say anything back to them except, "yeah, you're right" or "proud of it". They never know what to say to that. The conversation ends there.

In college I studied the hedonistic ways of the ancient Greeks and Romans, and I bought into it. They had no problem with being extremely civilized and sophisticated most of the time, and behaving like wild animals at other times. I don't believe in having sexual morals of any kind. I believe in being smart about managing risks and consequences.

I disagree, it's a fun word. My ex used to like her hair pulled and me to call her slut and a cum dumpster. I'm a slut everytime I look at internet porn. It's hard to be a slut here in Tucson because everyone knows someone that knows someone, that has heard of someone that knows you. I'd be a slut, this town is too, small. I guess I'll just keep burning through computers and toilet paper.

I'd starve before I didn't pay my internet bill...

 

hahaha, i'm kind of like that. but, in a sense, i'm not. basically a slut outside of a relationship, but when i'm in a relationship, i'm faithful.
