she just woke up from a nap. still no consistency in the contractions. in fact, she hasn't been feeling much of anything the past few hours. this baby is gonna take her sweet time coming out.

Ask your midwife if it's okay for you to drink a glass of wine to go sleep. Don't wear yourself out! Even though it seems really annoying, all these contractions are WORKING towards getting your baby out. When the "real thing" happens, you'll have done most of the work already. Get some sleep, mama, you got work to do!

Get some Rasberry ice cream! Try that and maybe some sex. I was told Rasberry ice cream works and when I tried it!!!!!! YIKES I had my second son that night!:)

The first time I had sex and had my first son the next day but I was in labor right after for 29 hours only to end with a c-section.

It won't be long Holly and Brian! :D

I'm not having too much trouble sleeping...They're very mild contractions...I can't feel them most of the time...

It's just the mental frustration of knowing I'm in labour, but not having anythign to show for it...except that Brian's now taken two of his five days off...in vain...:(

I told cody to go to work until I saw a real progression in things....i didn't want to waste his days off just to have him playing computer games or something. I wanted him there for the hard stuff....would brian be able to go back to work until things pick up a little?....when I went into labour, my OB told me that it could go on for 3-4 days :( But I still had Leane that next day....

Still no baby yet. seems that the little one has stage fright. can't say that I blame her with all the attention she's getting right now. So we're going back to our daily routine until something happens. Sorry about the hype, everyone. But hopefully we'll have a little one before the end of the weekend.

Oh, Holly! Hang in there! My labor did the same thing! Thank your lucky stars your water isn't broken! I know it's so hard to keep your spirits up. You feel like all your hard work is in vain. And it's hard to wait any longer to meet your sweet baby! Relax and rest. So many people are here rooting for you and Brian and Maire. I've been nervous since you started this post, even losing sleep! And running to the puter every hour or so to check. We love you and are here sending tsunamis of support and love vibes to you! Good luck!

    Nothing yet...sadly...

I decided to see what I could do to help things along...*whistles innocently* I know all you mommas keep saying to hang on and relax...and I'm trying, I really am...But I visited my local healthfood store and got some advice...

I walked in, held on to the counter as I was feeling woozy-crampy, and said "I've been 'technically' in labour for over two days. Anything I can do?"

The lady replied, "Been seeing alot of that lately...Blue Cohosh, Aisle 2..."

I looked at her funny, as I had heard NOT to take cohosh unless under the strict guidance of a midwife. She said, "well, most ladies have been desperate enough to try it." Well, I'm desperate, but not foolish, so I asked for other options.

Red raspberry leaf tea and castor oil is what she recommended. So I bought both...Tried the RRL earlier and it settled my cramps a bit...Good stuff...Will use it for menstruation...:D

And because I haven't pooed since this all started, I'm going to try the castor oil...And if nothing happens, nothing happens...But I'll get a good poo at least...

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive...Hopefully something happens soon so we can all take a breath and recline from our collective perches at the edges of our seats....sheesh, this kid has major stage fright...:D

I've heard that castor oil works wonders, so I hope it works for you! You must be exhausted!

Oooh, tell your midwife if your going to take castor oil! Please! (It's not dangerous, but it's uncomfortable!)

Don't take it before bed, you'll be up all night.
And, Holly, if your contractions stop, you're not in labour yet. The contractions are getting a lot of work done, thinning your cervix and dilating, moving your baby down into position, warming up the uterine muscles. So don't think it's all for nothing, okay?
Have a nice date with your man tomorrow, have a glass of wine, go see a movie, have a nice dinner out if you can.
You'll be holding that baby real soon!

okay...thanks, Brighid...*hugs*...It's nine and I was almost thinking of doing castor oil tonight...thanks for stopping me...lol!

I'll see how things shape up tomorrow, and if I haven't pooed (which is my main concern now), I'll call the midwife and see about the castor oil...Been eating lots of fruits and drinking tons of water...don't see why I'm not pooing! argh!

My mom said they gave her an enema when she checked in the hospital for both of her babies....I guess so during all that pushing and whatnot she wouldn't do her bad job all over the doctor.

I really hope Maire comes soon....I'm getting so anxious I just want to dance around and stuff. Haha. Great love and luck to you and mono, though. I bet he's a nervous wreck.
Just keep resting and enjoy yourself. :D
