Sorry. It waaaaaaaaaas my helpless attempt in explaining something that I could not understand.

Maybe you could explain why is it that Indian restaurants in New York are the only ones that have refused to serve me salad while every other customer got theirs before their entree? Or why Indians are relentlessly rude to me and my family at say, Dunkin Donut?

I remember this Indian doorman stopped me for ID over and over again in a commercial building I had to go to every week on business! I've seen him give all the white entrants the go-ahead, as a matter of course. Then I found out from someone who works there (a white woman) that she heard complaints about the same guy from other blacks who regularly used the building.

In my experience, that appears to be very very consistent with Sub-continent Indians. I've had good experiences with Indians too; it's just the I suffer racism disproportionately from them.

The caste system is simply a guess as to why that would be so...

Pfft... Explanation = some Indians are bitches, it's true. My mum got tonnes of shit when she used to do committee stuff (only female, only Punjabi, and she already had a committee she was part of) so she just stopped. I've never, however, heard of racism with Indians, and trust me the bitches here are pretty whack. I would suspect that's more to do with where them and wherever it is you are.

Wait.. The racism thing isn't strictly true - Pakistan is hated alot.

I think it's more like, immigrant one-upmanship, you know?

Like, you're an immigrant so in order to elevate yourself you discriminate against whatever group you think is in the lowest rung in the society you just moved into.

I've seen it from Hispanics too. And Pakistanis...just less so. Just my experience.

Edit: To be honest, in my ignorance I'm probably lumping Indians and Pakistanis together. A lot of the experiences I'm talking about were with Pakistanis, I'm sure. Sometimes I don't know exactly where they are from, except they "look" South Asian (which probably means they are really Honduran ).

But Trinidadians I knew in Brooklyn also complained about Indians being "worse than Jews."

Almost all of my experience with Sikh Indians have been cordial--.

Most Indian men seem to want to marry me, before they even know my name

I have a group of middle eastern friends, mostly from Pakistan, and they fucking HATE Indians and blacks like I have never seen in my life.

You think white racism is bad? Pfffffft. The shit those people spew is straight vile.

On another note, the Indian people here (dc) do seem to have a very shitty attitude about, well.. everything and everyone not Indian.

But I also personally know a group of Indians who are some of the best, most friendly and accommodating people anyone could ask to meet.

It's hard to generalize about these things. All I know is I constantly feel like the guys working at 7-11 are wishing me dead with their eyes, or putting some kind of curse on me. And in traffic? Forget it. Indians will never let you in.

Sikhs are cool. To be honest, as a general rule there's a lot of anger between the two countries, Pakistan and India. One thing that I've heard in the news is when they talk about Pakistan in a negative way, they refer to it as the "Indian Subcontinent". Heck, I've been called a Paki before. I'd say Pakistanis and Indians are very different, others may disagree but Pakistanis do not have a caste system. They have Islam.

Apparently they always think Im Indian and beautiful, so they must marry me.

At least when I wore my hair straight.

I remember I once kissed this Indian guy on the cheek, talk about making someone uncomfortable. It was funny, I wasnt into the guy at all and I was just being nice and saying goodbye.

haha.. Yeah my dad doesn't do that. He always lets people through. He's got the whole "Treat the world as you want to be treated" attitude going.

When we went to France we met this Indian couple who just came up to us and started talking to my parents, because we're also Indian. It was pretty cool and stuff like that doesn't usually happen.

Dude... Sikhs are the most confusing thing ever.

There's a Sikh neighborhood near me, they literally bought every house in the neighborhood.

And everyone's last name is Khalsa.

Imagine being their mail carrier..

But they are super chill, probably from all the ganja Sikhs puff on. Very communal too. If one kid is going to college, they all chip in and pay for it. Very interesting people.

    I'm aware of that.

And yet, I feel there is probably more cultural similarities between the two groups than they are willing to admit. Much like Jews and Palestinians. Or say, Ethiopians and Eritreans. Or say, Serbs and Bosnians.

Yeah, Indians, they're alright by me. I have no issues with them and think the accents sound cool. For the most part they are very passive on the road, at least by local standards here.

Honestly I think white yuppies are the biggest assholes when it comes to driving and being inconsiderate shitbags.

And asians, well, they just shouldn't even be given licenses. 40 mph in the left lane on the capital beltway during rush hour is just not even safe

I miss the good old days of living in the ghetto as well  visiting the farmers market and rural vegetable stand on late summer evenings, driving past million dollar mansions, watching the procession of jews on friday night as they walk to temple

ive always been a city kid. i dont know my neighbours. to be honest i like it. i guess i like my privacy... they seem like weirdos anyway.

i went to school in the roughest part of the city. the street my school was on they called tranny alley cos all the prostitutes used to pick up there. we dont have many black people here. it's not a ghetto but more of a slum i guess.

i dont think i could live in the country id just be way too bored.
