I agree, the sixties are overrated. The seventies and nineties were just as impressive and I find as much pleasure in nowadays music as in music from the past. Except the eighties, I'm really glad I'm not living in the eighties at this age.

Was all of the music good? No. but it’s a hell of a lot better than what you hear on the radio today.

Mp3 are of such poor quality that they should be given away for free. Many times I have downloaded an mp3 of a song then later bought it on record.

The music industry has always been afraid of people copying music for free, they were afraid of every new tape format that came out (reel-to-reel, 8 track, cassette). But none of them took a big chunk out of their profits because it was impossible to mass distribute illegal copies. Also only reel-to-reel could replicate the quality of a record without any noticeable loss. Now mp3s are taking a chunk out of CD sales wile vinyl record sales are increasing.

So what does this all tell you, I don’t know.

Very simple, it tells us that the radio nowadays isn't the source to indicate if it's a shitty decade for music or not.
